Former GOP Chairman videotapes boys in shower

by: johnleesandiego

News of assistant principal Patrick Lott videotaping boys in the school showers has been national news for some time now. PolitickerNJ seems to be the only media outlet to point out that he is a former Sommerville NJ GOP chairperson.

It's like every time we turn around some icon of conservativism is involved in pedophilia (or covering it up is the case with Joe Paterno). Makes one wonder what they all mean when they say "family values"

Day of Action for Ed Potosnak in Somerville TOMORROW!

by: dave.imbriaco

Fri Oct 22, 2010 at 10:44:29 AM EDT

Something big is brewing in Somerville.  Tomorrow, Saturday 22 October, Somerset County Democrats will rise up in a Day of Action, rallying voters to Get Out The Vote on November 2nd.  We will be meeting up with a slew of Somerset County, Township and Borough candidates as well as Ed Potosnak who is running for Congress at the top of the ticket.   At 10am, coffee, donuts and a little bit of politics will commence at the Somerset County Democratic Headquarters, located at 75 West Main St in downtown Somerville.

If you have not had an opportunity to meet Ed Potosnak already, tomorrow will be a great opportunity to do so.  I started out as a volunteer for Ed over the summer after graduating from Rutgers University and I eventually got on board as an organizer in Hunterdon and Somerset counties.  I wanted to get more involved with Ed’s campaign because I really believe that Ed has the vision, experience and talent to help New Jersey and the rest of America get our edge back.  Ed is running for your, my, and all of our futures, and not for a political career.

Tomorrow morning, after some merrymaking, we’re going to fire up the troops and hit the streets and phones for Ed, making calls and knocking on doors to spread the good word about Ed and his campaign!  This isn’t your everyday canvass operation: this is us showing that we’re fired up, excited and ready to send Leonard Lance home on November 2nd.  They keep talking about some kind of enthusiasm gap among Democrats on TV, but I sure as hell don’t know what they’re talking about!  We’re excited, we’re fired up, and we’re ready to win on November 2nd!  Show the naysayers that you are too!

Oh, and don’t forget to sign up for Get Out the Vote!  If your time is limited and you want to make this biggest possible impact on the election, this is your chance to do so!

We really need all of your help to make it through the final stretch of the campaign and we hope to see you all soon!

Make sure to visit www.edpotosnak.com for campaign updates and information!  NJ-7 swings blue on November 2nd!

Stink bomb thrown into Corzine HQ in Somerset County

by: Rosi Efthim

Mon Aug 31, 2009 at 04:18:44 PM EDT

HQ facade

A stink bomb was thrown into the Somerset County Democratic Headquarters a little after noon today, the office where the Corzine for Governor campaign is coordinating their field efforts in the county.

This is the same Division Street office Governor Corzine visited last weekend during the Opening Day Party of the field office.

One person was present - an intern named Lash Green II, who was in the office working on invitations for an upcoming event with Mayor Cory Booker. Green told police he believed the stink bomb was thrown from the passenger window of a white Chrysler 300 that pulled away from the curb in front of the HQ entrance moments after. Somerville police responded but refused to file a report, citing lack of damage.

No one was hurt but the stink bomb produced a cloud of acrid sulphur odor. County Party Executive Director Alex Radus said a few minutes of work time were lost but the staff continued to work even in the "very uncomfortable environment". Said Somerset Democratic Chair Peg Schaffer:

This kind of childish behavior takes on grave significance when a political organization is targeted. It is a mark of intolerance, and amounts to nothing less than assault, voter intimidation and harassment.

The incident was filed with the NJ Secretary of State, the entity charged with overseeing the election process.
