This Week: While Jeff is once again away, Adam and Jason will play. It's time for another excellent adventure and we will cover all the latest issues in what was another busy week of NJ politics and government. The Governor is getting ready to produce his budget proposal as people continue to try and come to grips with his previous proposals for unemployment, mass transit, education, the environment and more. On the federal level, they're still fighting about healthcare. And there is plenty more out there that we can talk about.

This Week: Our guest will be Dr. Anthony Mazzarelli. Dr. Mazz has a weekly radio show on 1210am and is a practicing emergency room physician at Cooper Hospital. He led Coopers' efforts to help with relief after the earthquake in Haiti and will join us to discuss what he saw while helping out.
We will also cover the latest issues in what was a busy week of NJ politics and government, which has become the norm.

For the last two weeks, we have had great guests including Congressman Donald Payne two weeks ago and JRB last week talking corruption. Those shows are worth a listen.
This week, I'm sure we'll cover many of the issues facing our state. Last Friday was a huge news day with Senator Baroni saying he would be moving to the NY/NJ Port Authority and Senator Lautenberg being diagnosed with treatable stomach cancer. The Senate unanimously approved Pension reform bills yesterday. Bret Schundler's nomination will be continued, a move which angered Republicans provoking some fun exchanges among Senators. Garden State Equality has been holding demolish the divide events around the state including Trenton last night. And lets not forget the fight over Executive power that has cropped up over budget cuts, COAH and other areas. We clearly have a full menu to choose from for the meal tonight.
Did we not mention the issue you're thinking about? Drop your comments, questions and concerns down below, then tune in and join the conversation!

Last week: Our guest was Congressman Donald M. Payne, NJ-10, the new Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, who shared all sorts of goodies (including announcing on-air his intention to co-sponsor the Fair Elections Now Act). The Congressman was a great guest, and well worth another listen.
But, this week: we go from the good, to the bad and the ugly. On the heels of the Beldini verdict in Jersey City, we're talking corruption with longtime Blue Jersey contributor, Jack R. Bohrer (aka ""JRB"), whose recent series in The Jersey City Independent covering that trial - the first of many arising from last summer's huge sting - was as complete a record of the trial as you're likely to read. We'll hear first-hand what that trial looked and sounded like, and get JRB's insight into how future corruption trials might shape up.

This week: Our guest is Congressman Donald M. Payne, NJ-10, who's not only Newark's long-serving representative, but also the new Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation. He'll be talking about the CBC Foundation, what his role will be, and what role it plays in progressive politics. Plus, we'll catch up on his perspective of all that's going on in Washington.
With a great guest like this, it's tough to decide where to start - so help us out. What should we ask the good Congressman?

This Week: It's Groundhog Day! I understand Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow, which means six more weeks of winter. But, I also heard some imposter groundhog performing for Mayor Bloomberg in Staten Island did not see his shadow, which means Spring is coming. Either way, it's sofa king freezing, I could scream.
Of course, it doesn't really matter which groundhog is right, because as I heard it said today, in New Jersey there are only two seasons anyway: construction and winter.
But, on to politics.
I'm baaaaack, from a quick (and warm) jaunt to California ("the New Jersey of the Pacific"), and ready to make some predictions of my own. How about these:
1- I predict that nothing serious will be done about campaign financing, despite the misguided Supreme Court decision that a legal fiction is a human being.
2- I predict that nothing serious will be done to clean house when it comes to the corrupt elements within the Democratic party.
3- I predict that 4 out of 5 Blue Jersey Radio listeners would not know what Gobbler's Knob is without looking it up.
Have something on your mind that you want us to talk about - perhaps your own un-jaded prediction or two? Go ahead and drop in a comment with your thoughts. Or, feel free to give us a call, and share what's on your mind. Remember, it's all LIVE, so don't be afraid - join us, and let us know what's going on in your neck of the woods!

This Week: We've kicked Jeff out for the night so that Adam and I can have another excellent adventure. We're certainly not short of topics to discuss. Do you want to discuss the first week of Governor Christie? Or maybe Jon Runyan's affinity for donkeys? Possibly the state of the healthcare debate now? We could also talk about the state of fundraising and the drop in leadership pacs along with county party efforts.

This Week: Welcome to the first full day of the Christie Administration. We'll recap all of the changes that have gone on in the leadership of this state since we last spoke with you. The new Governor isn't wasting any time and he says he's signing executive orders, taking action and we'll have plenty to talk about.
In addition, we'll be talking about fallout from the Massachusetts Senate race and its impact on everything from healthcare to how candidates campaign in a tough climate. Everyone is looking to assign blame and interpret meaning including our own Senator Menendez.
We'll also touch on the state of the Democratic Party in New Jersey with the jockeying for State Chair heating up and the financial reports on where the party leadership committees stand with funding having been released.

This Week: We're recapping the lame duck session - the good, the bad and the ugly.
And, we'll be talking about what's next, like who's ready to kick some ass in 2010? Apparently, these people! (1,2001,237 and counting) - just one of multiple Facebook groups popping up in the aftermath of the New Jersey Senate's failure to pass marriage equality. Joining us for the conversation will be Unseat Sean Kean spokesperson, Thomas Mannix, with an inside look at what the group is planning, and what kind of feedback it's getting so far.

Today is the day that the NJ Senate finally votes on marriage equality. This is hardly a news flash for regular readers of this blog, but it's still feels kinda surreal that it's finally show time.
If anyone reading has pics, video or updates to add, please feel free to share here. If you're on site in Trenton, grab a snack cuz it's gonna be a long day....... I estimate the marriage vote to go down sometime around 5:30pm.

Oh, and don't worry - we'll have the latest updates on the marriage bill too, on the heels of my frigid day in Trenton yesterday, and the announcement today about the Big Vote Thursday. Join us, and find out what's going on.
Holy cow! Blue Jersey Radio is alive and kicking almost 3 years since its debut, and guess what?: It's still really fun to do! We get to interview great guests, we can say anything we want, and we even let our callers have their say (sometimes). But every so often, we get to take a week off, and just listen back to some of our favorite shows. And this year had no shortage of fun ones.
Like we did back in 2007 and 2008, we invite you again to have a listen back to this year's Blue Jersey Radio Year in Review:
The Big Fish
This year, we had the opportunity to sit down for an extended interview with Governor Corzine, to talk about the campaign, the issues important to him, and the achievements he hoped to share with New Jersey voters. We also were joined on more than one show by our dear friend, Senator Loretta Weinberg.

Updated by Jason: We had a fun recap of 2009 talking about the many guests and topics the show covered throughout the past year. Thank you to all the people who joined us as guests, co-hosts and listeners. It was a great year and we'll see you in 2010.

This Week: When you start seeing Annual Top Ten Lists, you know it's time to take a look back at the year in New Jersey politics. Let's do it!
Unlike almost every other state, New Jersey never takes a break from politics. It's not just Atlantic City that's "always on" - in New Jersey, it's on every year. When the rest of the country took the year off from electoral politics after the Obama election, we went full-steam ahead into our governor's race. And now, as the year winds to a close, we're already talking about the 2010 elections (and even, er, some 2011 ones).
For my part, I'll be sharing my perspective on the ups and downs (there really were both!) of a tumultuous 2009. But, it's always more fun when we hear from our listeners too. Go ahead, make my day our year.
Blue Jersey, Garden State Equality and Blue Jersey Radio's own Jeff Gardner appeared on the Dr. Mazz show on 1210am out of Philadelphia last night to talk about the current state of the Marriage Equality debate here in New Jersey.
I found it to be a really interesting exchange. Jeff did great job and really laid out the history of how we got to where we are now and why it's so important that we take that next step to grant true Marriage Equality. Mazz said it very well:
Separate but Equal has never been a good public policy argument.
Here's the audio of the interview for you to have a listen:

This Week: Well, what else? It's all marriage, all the time, as we share our take on yesterday's hearing and committee vote to advance the marriage to the full Senate on Thursday. Yes, I testified alrighty. And, I can't wait to tell you all about it (although if you can't wait - the text of my testimony is below the flip).

Jay Lassiter planned all along to go down to the statehouse yesterday and blog for us. But then, something happened in his hometown, that made him stay there, to capture for you today what the people of Cherry Hill did when the fools came to town. Great job, Jay - promoted by Rosi
Today the NJ Senate Judiciary voted on gay marriage equality. And what a long strange trip it's been clearing the first hurdle.
To your question, JRB ... I am - - promoted from the diaries by Rosi
I pledge $100 and 25 volunteer hours to Jeff Gardner in 2011 if he chooses to challenge state Senator John Girgenti (D) and bring a more inclusive, progressive voice to Trenton.
Just sayin'. I got your back, Jeff. Who's with me?
Oh yes - this promises to be a happy episode indeed. /snark
