Apparently, Elaine Rabbitt is no longer an asset to the Bergen County patronage machine. She is now a liability, apparently.
She was suspended without pay from her $60,000 job in the engineering dept (I thought she was just a makeup artist) in a move that observers say has never happened before.
It may have something to do with her being INDICTED on forgery charges stemming from the 2005 special election at the BCDO for a state senate seat.

Why, just a week ago, she was touted as an ardent supporter of newly coronated Mike Kasparian, developer, and eminent domain afficionado.
In fact they listed her TWICE:

She is on the State Democratic Committee as well as the Municipal Chair in Bergenfield. She had to step aside as Councilwoman in Bergenfiield. She declined to run this past November. (It would have been tough running for re-election when your opponents could use a picture of you behind bars.)
When you consider that HER ball-and-chain, live-in boyfriend Kevin Clancy, had to step down from being Municipal Chair due to everyone suspecting HIM of the forgeries, you have to shake your head and just say : "You just can't make this stuff up."
Because of the forgeries, Clancy handed the Municipal Chairmanship to the very person to be indicted for the crime 3 years later.
Unfortunately, up till last week, it appeared that alleged forger Ms. Rabbitt still had a future in the Democratic party. Now the suspension of her patronage job puts that bright future in doubt. She could have risen to the level of say - Senator Coniglio. (Oops, HE's in trouble now too), or let's say, Dennis Oury, who was Joe's right hand for a while. (Oops, HE was indicted too), or say, Joe himself someday. (Oops, INDICTED). Or how about Eileen DeBari or Ken Zisa of the Election Board. Oops, now THEY have to defend themselves for illegally firing poll workers in Teaneck. Or how about Mayor Michael Wildes, whose planning board just let his buddies file a COAH builder's remedy suit against the town by delaying their COAH submission for a few days. Ah, that is more like it. You have to be good at Pay-to-Play and screwing the taxpayers, but you have to make sure you do it LEGALLY.
Anyway, about her suspension. It couldn't have happened to a nicer person.:)
