Memo to DSCC Chair Bob Menendez: Check your offices

by: Hopeful

Tue Jan 26, 2010 at 06:00:03 PM EST

Yes, it's right out of Watergate, but it's true. A conservative operative just got arrested trying to bug Senator Mary Landrieu's offices:

James O'Keefe, the young conservative filmmaker who was behind the undercover operations that led to the ACORN scandal last year, was arrested with three others for allegedly trying to bug the New Orleans office of Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) yesterday.

The FBI announced today the foursome have been charged with entering federal property under false pretenses for the purpose of committing a felony.

The affidavit alleges that the botched phone bugging began with two of the four men -- Joseph Basel and Robert Flanagan, both 24 -- entering Landrieu's office in downtown New Orleans in Village People-style construction worker garb, claiming they were telephone repairmen.

If they got caught this time, perhaps they bugged other offices. TPM has the affidavit. I think Menendez should A)make sure everyone's offices are okay and B) make a big deal out of this.

Of course, maybe Jersey politicians already assume their offices are bugged for other reasons. ;)

Jersey Woman Push Polled By McCain Supporters....

by: Nick Lento

Sat Sep 20, 2008 at 01:36:58 PM EDT

The video is of a NJ resident who had her calls transferred from a Florida address.

Evidently McCain supporters are trying to plant lies about Obama in the minds of Jewish voters.

I wonder if this tactic shouldn't be outlawed?    As I see it, is a kind of treasonous terrorism in that it effectively undermines the democratic process. (Something that Al Qaeda can't do.)

We shouldn't allow this kind of dishonest disgraceful and disgusting activity to go on under the guise of "free speech".

When the people who pull this crap are subject to large fines and long terms in prison, it will be the end of just about all "push polling".

Panic is setting in at the BCDO

by: carolh

Mon Jun 02, 2008 at 06:11:06 PM EDT

Panic is setting in at the BCDO.  They have been robocalling, not just for Lautenberg, trying to ride into power again on his coattails, but they also have a woman robocalling - warning about OUTSIDERS who are threatening to overthrow the (wait for it......... "Democratic" process. Gasp!)

They are urging all frightened democrats to demand to see credentials when anyone comes to their door.  They are basically hoping that will stop our canvassers from doing any more campaigning before the election.

They don't even have the decency to say WHO to be afraid of.  They just say "OUTSIDERS".  Oooooh, I am so scaaawed :o    I wonder who they are talking about.........

Juan posted the call on the Front page. You have to hear this.

It's pretty low and beneath the dignity of the County Democratic Organization.  But then that's what you expect from frightened vermin that are scared.  They get nasty when cornered.

If they do mean us - and I am sure they do,  How do they figure us for OUTSIDERS?  Three of us are present or former Democratic Councilwomen FROM BERGEN COUNTY.   We are VOTING members of the BCDO - at least till tomorrow.

I guess they mean we are not in the inner, INNER  circle of Joe Ferriero's best buds.  You know, the He-Man Woman Haters secret clubhouse at the BCDO.  The Sopranos Annual Italy Tour Club.   The Dennis Oury House of Ethics Government Grant Emporium. The "Lets Rezone Teaneck for the Badda Bing Club" Land Use Attorney Association.  I could go on - but you get the idea.......

If that makes me an OUTSIDER, well then, so be it.  I am STILL on the ballot in the DEMOCRATIC Primary in Column 3 - the column ahead of Joe Ferriero and his Inside Job INSIDERS.

More Dirty Tricks: Calls Remind Voters to Vote Tomorrow

by: Juan Melli

Tue Nov 07, 2006 at 02:55:53 PM EST

hubcity at dailykos writes that they received a call reminding them to vote tomorrow:
Got a robocall today from the "US Chamber Of Commerce" reminding me that the polls are open 'til 8PM tomorrow here in NJ.  (Funny, I thought it was kinda hard to miss that today's election day...)

Caller ID reported that it came in at 1:44pm from "Out of area" at 800-547-2764.

Massive GOP Voter Suppression Effort In New Jersey

by: Juan Melli

Mon Nov 06, 2006 at 12:37:25 AM EST

Sources in Bergen County are reporting that an autodial robocall is being made that starts out sounding like a positive Bob Menendez message. If you hang up, it repeatedly calls you back. If you listen all the way to the end, it finishes by saying that Menendez is an embezzler and under criminal investigation.

This is a voter suppression tactic being used nationwide by the GOP. Initially callers will think they are hearing a call from the Menendez campaign asking for support. If they hang up, it will repeatedly call them back. The intention is to annoy the voter so much that they no longer support the candidate. For those who actually listen to the entire call, they are presented with a series of lies and smears against Menendez, also with the intention of suppressing turnout. It's a win-win tactic for them.

The NRCC is doing the same exact thing in Pennsylvania, New Hampshire and at least 53 other races across the country.

If you receive one of these calls, call the DNC's voter protection hotline at 1-888-DEM-VOTE and record a testimonial, which will be the foundation for any legal action. Let us know about it in the comments, too. If possible, try to record it. Here's some expert advice for what to do.
