Mike Kelly connects the dots for the public on the Bergenfield forgeries.
http://www.northjersey.com/opi...
Not many folks realized that Kevin Clancy is alleged forger and former Councilwoman Elaine Rabbitt's live-in.
Kelly muses on how large a net was cast in the hunt for the forgers who hoped to rig the NJ State Senate District 37 special election in 2005 in favor of Ken Zisa, who is now on the Bergen County Board of Elections, and against Loretta Weinberg, who won after all the real votes were counted.
At the time, Kevin Clancy was Municipal Chair of the Bergenfield Democrats and staunch Ferriero-crat. He was also on the Board of Elections too. What you'd call IRONY if you realize Clancy knew enough about the fact that these were forgeries to TELL Tim Driscoll not to show up at the election because he was no longer on the CC. If Clancy simply received these forgeries FROM Driscoll, why the need to tell Driscoll what he already should know??
Thank you, Mr. Kelly. There IS more to this story than footnotes. If we don't find out the rest of this story soon, more embarassment for the BCDO and Democrats in Bergen County may be on the way during the NEXT election.

Mike Kelly at the Bergen Record frames the election of Bergenfield mayor-elect Tim Driscoll and his opposition to Bergen County Democratic chair Joe Ferriero's pay-to-play machine as a proxy battle for the direction of the Democratic party:What's interesting here is that Driscoll's clean-government campaign has managed to shine a spotlight on the moral rot at the center of the pay-to-play system. By contributing money as a way of landing government jobs, political appointees are not hired because they have good ideas. A prime factor is money.
If any Democrat doubts this, ask yourself this question: What issues and policies do Joe Ferriero, Dennis Oury and the other pay-to-play cronies stand for?
The answer to that question reveals that the pay-to-play war is really a fight over the soul of the Democratic Party in New Jersey. Will it become an organization of inspired ideas and policies? Or will it be the domain of power-hungry hacks who dole out political contributions? The entire column is worth a read for a good summary of the situation. Driscoll is poking a hot sauce-covered finger in the eye of Bergen County's corrupt Democratic party leadership.
And we should expect them to use that corrupt system to fight to perpetuate itself. If they haven't already, Bergenfield council members may be getting some enticing phone calls with promises of jobs in exchange for fealty to boss Ferriero.
The result of this fight could signal which direction the Democratic party will go in Bergen County and beyond: Will it become an organization of inspired ideas and policies? Or will it be the domain of power-hungry hacks who dole out political contributions? The choice should be an easy one. I'm with Tim Driscoll.

The Real Bergen Democrats slate of candidates scored some key victories tonight. In Bergenfeld, Timothy Driscoll - who two years ago had his signature forged on a resignation letter in an attempt to disqualify him from voting in a tight special election - defeated Dolores Butler, the candidate of the same people who tried to disenfranchise him.
His running mates - Barry Doll and Councilman Bruce Carlson - defeated BCDO candidates Carlos Aguasvivas and John Person.
In Ward 2 of Englewood, Council President Charlotte Bennett Schoen defeated BCDO candidate Marvin Anault.
In Fort Lee, Councilman Michael Villano - the Real Bergen Democrats mayoral candidate - lost to the current mayor Jack Alter.
Bergen County Sheriff Leo McGuire (BCDO) held on to his seat by defeating Allen Gailes, Jr (RBD).
