From the Jersey Journal editorial page:
Just a glimpse of some expenses incurred by Charles T. Epps Jr. on a nine-day London trip in summer 2004 makes him a poster child for those who say that giving additional state aid to for poorer school districts is a waste.
First of all, I have to wonder exactly what a trip to London has to do with running the Jersey City schools. The British educational system isn't even remotely similar to ours. See, they teach kids to read and write and use reasoning skills.

According to the Jersey Journal:
By KEN THORBOURNEJOURNAL STAFF WRITER
Jersey City Superintendent of Schools Charles T. Epps Jr. was apparently behaving in "Do as I say, not as I do" mode when he splurged on high-priced hotels, meals and limousines during a nine-day trip to England two years ago.
The total cost of the trip to taxpayers was $5,179, well above the district's spending cap that Epps himself had signed off on.
It isn't like Prince Charles can't pay for it. He just likes to spend our money instead of his.
"A rose by any other name, would smell as sweet." What happens when something smells like a day-old turd?
