Here at Adler for Congress we're gearing up for the final two-month sprint to election day. It's not quite the home stretch yet, but close: 59 days to be exact (or "58 sleeps" as we say here at HQ!)
Today the office is packed with volunteers (pics below the fold) who decided to ride out the storm here with the campaign team. Excitement is high for a number of reasons, mostly next week's debate (details here) which is just days away!
Nothing would be cooler than to have the auditorium packed full of a captive crowd. And it will be the best political theater we've seen in a while, you can could on that. So what are you doing this Wednesday? Wanna come to the debate? (RSVP to bianca@adlerforcongress.com)
The campaign crossed a notable milestone today: over $100,000 raised on ActBlue. That suggests bigtime grassroots support for Adler here in NJ-3, a district held by the GOP since 1882.
Finally -- and this goes for all of NJ -- the deadline to register new voters is October 14. For the sake of progressives up and down the ticket, take the opportunity to register others while there's still time.
Over 100 people turned out to the Adler for Congress HQ last night to watch Barack Obama accept the nomination in Denver. Chances are, there was a 'watch party' near you, too. Is so, how was it?
You can see below the fold that it was a packed house in BurlCo. And combined with our Cherry Hill and Ocean County crowds, the total turnout in NJ-3 was well over 300 people. Clearly change is in the air. And in this district -- where we haven't seen a Democrat in Congress in over 125 years -- the change would be historic.
The spillover crowd was standing room only and with fellowship in the air, no one seemed to mind. This is an open thread. If you want to share your parting thoughts on the Convention, this is the place.
According to politicsnj, Democrat Marie Lollar defeated Republican Matt Garwood by 31 votes (294-263) in the special election held yesterday for Burlington City Council. The council will now have 4 Democrats and 3 Republicans.
Chris Fifis, a Democrat who in 2004 ran and lost for freeholder in Burlington County said before the election that this race would be "a good barometer of whether our message is resonating with the people...Are we getting people to the polls? Is the base excited?"
