Caption THIS! Scott Walker & Chris Christie: Union-Buster Secret Handshakes!

On Monday, Wisconsin cheese-head Scott Walker jumped into the race, lucky #15. He polls higher than Christie – Walker tied for 4th place at 7% and Christie in 9th place with 2%. But it’s all still fluid and the GOP field is such a circus only 5% separates them. They’re rivals now, but NJ.com looks back at their history.

The photo cries out for a caption contest. Post your entries in Comments.

By the way, NJ.com is running a reader poll asking whether you’d vote for Christie or Walker. Results are not flattering, especially to Christie.

Caption Contest: “Numbnuts”

This is what Governor Chris Christie looks like when he’s calling a seated New Jersey assemblyman, “Numbnuts”.

Mind you, he apologized – sort of. But it took a lot to get that out of him. Considerable outrage expressed, particularly from black folks – or, you know, anybody whoever cracked a history book – culminating with Freedom Rider, disciple in his youth of Martin Luther King, Jr. and now congressman John Lewis of Georgia to get on a train and come up from Washington to to clear up a few things for the Governor. Of course, Christie’s “sorry” pointedly did not extend to Asm Reed Gusciora, whom he called “Numbnuts” after Gusciora questioned Christie’s basic understanding of the American civil rights movement. Christie also chose to make his (limited) apology on 101.5 radio, which routinely stirs up its low-information listening audience and encourages precisely the same kind of (dare I say “numbnuts”) carrying-on the Governor specializes in.

Caption Contest! Captions – or Thought Bubbles – welcome!

Caption Contest with Thought Bubbles: Matzo Factory Edition

Get your caption contest toolbelt and strap on the thought bubbles. This is Mayor Cory Booker at the new corporate offices of The Manischewitz Co., yes the sticky Kosher wine people. Newark’s gain is Secaucus’ loss; New Jersey’s biggest city got Manischewitz without tax incentives, for it’s “business-friendly climate”. So there’s that.

For the happy occasion, there was a blessing by the chief rabbi of Israel and Manischewitz baked a monster matzo. That’s 25 feet of unleavened yummy loveliness. And as Chris Pedota, Record photog, snapped this picture, Mayor Cory Booker, in a fetching paper hairnet, had just broken off a big chunk.

Captions? Thought bubbles? Go.

Thought Bubble & Caption Contest: Christie & Bucco, with Balloons

Time for a Thought Bubble & Caption Contest. This shot is from Assemblyman Anthony Bucco’s facebook page.

Here’s how Asm Bucco (or his staff) captioned the picture: Working with Governor Christie in Trenton to cut spending, stop rising property taxes, and reform unsustainable pension and health benefits for public employees!

But maybe you can do better.

Chris Christie & Anthony Bucco

Bucco, by the way, is Chris Christie’s assemblyman. Bucco’s dad, former Assemblyman and now Senator Bucco, and Michael Patrick Carroll beat Christie and Rick Merkt in the 1995 GOP Assembly Primary in LD-25. Bucco and Bucco are the only parent-child legislative team in New Jersey. Maybe that’s what they’re celebrating?

Caption Contest: Christie at the White House (fashion gossip & Fox News video bonus!)

You’d think, after the Governor’s recent choice to ditch responsibility for sun, fun and Mickey Mouse ears, that he’d make an effort to spend a full month in the Garden State before he went anywhere else for his own benefit. But, no.

Christie, with wife Mary Pat, put on his big boy pants last night and glitzed it up to go to the White House for a state dinner honoring Chinese President Hu Jintao.

Okay, it isn’t that much a surprise, given that corporate CEO’s dominated the guest list. Christie does like to chum it up with the millionaires. It certainly couldn’t be to hobnob with the President of the United States, given Christie’s swipe at Obama just 72 hours earlier on Fox News Sunday (video after the jump), when he suggested to Chris Wallace that Barack Obama wasn’t “ready” to be President. Very Christie. Dump on the President, then go scarf lobster at the guy’s House. Also at this shindig: US Secretary of Education Arne Duncan . That must have been a hot convo over the cheese puffs. Duncan’s been gracious to Christie, even after Christie’s Chief of Staff sent him a bullshit-filled letter of untruth about NJ’s bungled Race to the Top filing.

I call a Caption Contest! (thought bubbles too).

Bonus fashion gossip & Christie video, after the jump.
