Healthcare. What a loaded word. As someone who has had her share of surgeries – most recently a surprise two week stay at Hackensack University Medical Center, I have had quite some time and experience to spend thinking about this topic.
It’s hard to know where to begin, but I’ll try.
My problems all started with a handful of doctors who arrogantly believed all too heavily in the Gospel of “Pharmaceuticals can solve EVERYTHING”. Which is kind of what you are left with when the Pharmaceutical Industry has the unchecked power and money as it does now. A surgical cure for something becomes less lucrative for the powers that be than a life-long chronic illness dependent on drugs to “control” it.
