Trenton-(September 17, 2006) Barbra “Babs” Casbar, President of the New Jersey Stonewall Democrats (NJSD), and Bob Bresenhan, Jr., Vice President of Legislative & Political Affairs for NJSD, issued a joint statement today announcing the latest appointments to the New Jersey Stonewall Democrats “Honorary Deputy Directors” and “Honorary Board of Governors”.  “This announcement is made on day a great day in Trenton, while the city celebrates it’s diversity with the 5th Annual Capital Rainbowfest, the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex pride celebration, announced Mr. Bresenhan.

The newest NJSD “Honorary Deputy Directors” are Assemblyman Thomas P. Giblin (34th –NJ Leg.), New Jersey Democratic State Party Chairman and Assemblyman Joseph Cryan (20th – NJ Leg.), and Union County Democratic Committee Chairwoman Charlotte DeFilippo.

The newest appointment’s to the NJSD “Honorary Board of Governors” includes Congressman Steve Rothman (NJ – 9th) and Senator Barbara Buono (18th – NJ Leg.).

These new NJSD Honorary Board members will serve a one-year term and will serve in an advisory capacity to the NJSD Executive Board.  Ms. Casbar said, “we (NJSD) are proud and honored to have these new Honorary Board Members with distinguished and lengthy records of public service.  Each of these new members have fought long and hard for civil rights and have been long time allies of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex (LGBTI) community in New Jersey.”

Mr. Bresenhan said, “New Jersey Stonewall Democrat’s Executive Board looks forward to working with each of these esteemed leaders of positive change in New Jersey over the coming year.  Each of these board members has a record of making significant contributions to the quality of life for the members of New Jersey’s LGBTI community and we look forward to even bigger and better accomplishments in the year ahead.”  Each of these new board members will be presented with an official certificate of board membership.

New Jersey Stonewall Democrats, an affiliate of the National Stonewall Democrats, are New Jersey’s only grassroots Democratic LGBTI organization.
