Thank you, Robert, for helping to power Bonnie Watson Coleman to Congress

Bonnie Watson Coleman & Robert FieldShout out to Bonnie Watson Coleman campaign staffer Robert Field, who captained only the 3rd 24-hour money blitz in NJ campaign history, raising more than $7k mostly with small-dollar donations as intended, and creating an event that engaged the involvement of 139 participants who spread the word friend-to-friend, and joined Rush Holt, Cory Booker, BWC’s Assembly colleagues Troy Singleton, Dan Benson, and Joe Cryan, the state party, several county parties and more to drive the event.

I was in touch with BWC’s young campaign staffer many times as he worked this project to crowdsource funding for the CD12 candidate. And I know he worked nearly 24 hours straight. That’s the kind of dedication he has to Bonnie Watson Coleman, in whom he sees leadership, guts, bedrock progressive thinking and character worthy of inheriting the seat in Congress now held by one of New Jersey’s best, Rush Holt. His belief in her mirrors the dedication I felt Rush Holt deserved when I was his campaign staffer when we saw him to Congress in 1998. I see so many of the same inspiring qualities in Bonnie that I saw in Rush. And so does Robert; his faith in his candidate is clear-eyed, but powerful. Thank you to him for his 24-hours of great work, and to all who helped drive this money blitz – and are still adding to it – good on you.

Robert, you did Notre Dame proud.

Tomorrow is #CorfieldMoneyBomb Day here at Blue Jersey

Tomorrow, on Twitter and Facebook, look for hashtag #CorfieldMoneyBomb. Gonna be fun. Promoted by Rosi

In every effective campaign there’s a moment – you can feel it – when all the pieces click together. Buzz. Energy ramps up, volunteers offer their time (thank you). Cool stuff starts happening every day. That’s what it’s been like here at my campaign. I’m so grateful and excited. So let’s take it up a notch:

Our Money Bomb – Thursday, July 25 we’re going to show our grassroots strength with our first Money Bomb – a grassroots fundraising effort compacted into one fun 24-hour day that engages all kinds of people giving at all levels. Money is fuel for a campaign, just like volunteers, ideas and hard work are. On Money Bomb Thursday, you can participate from wherever you are – pool, beach, work or home – with nothing more than a smartphone or computer. You’ll be joining supporters and some surprise guests, and we’ll be all over social media as we watch the numbers climb. And it’s going to be fun. Even if you can’t contribute a lot, every little bit helps when we all work together.

RSVP now to participate & pledge your support for Money Bomb Thursday July 25

I’m fighting for a seat in the New Jersey Assembly against a Tea Party-endorsed GOP incumbent, in a state where Republican legislators do pretty much whatever the Governor tells them to do. That’s good for Chris Christie, but not so good for the people in the 16th District, or the people of New Jersey. I’m working hard, and the grassroots power of ordinary people behind this race is amazing. Thank you. And thank you, Blue Jersey!

July 25: The #CorfieldMoneyBomb is Coming

CorfieldparentsToday, we kick off a 10-day Countdown to July 25th, the day we join progressives in New Jersey and across the nation to raise money for Marie Corfield’s campaign for the New Jersey Assembly. July 25th is Money Bomb Day.

Remember when Hurricane Sandy hit just before Election Day? Marie was running against the Tea Party-endorsed Republican who’d been appointed to the seat. The election was so close it took nearly a month before the results were in. How close?

1%. – That’s all the ground we have to make up in this newly-drawn district where Democrats outnumber Republicans.

We’ve heard from all corners of NJ that Marie’s campaign is a statewide progressive priority. Everyone here at Blue Jersey knows about Marie Corfield. Rock solid progressive. A fighter. A leader.

Campaigns cost money. If Marie’s going to unseat a Tea Party Republican, she needs our support. July 25 Money Bomb.

So – What’s a Money Bomb?: A grassroots fundraising effort concentrated in a short time period. We’re going to use it to support Marie by dramatically ramping up, concentrating & publicizing her fundraising.

This is local – and national: Last year, the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee called Marie’s race the #1 Grassroots-Powered Race in the U.S. (Huffington Post covered it)

What you can do right now: Click “I’m Attending” on Marie’s Money Bomb page. Then come back July 25th and donate!

Every contribution counts – $5, $10, or $25  donations add up. If the progressive community shows our real strength – by making Marie the next Assemblywoman from the 16th District – maybe Democrats in Trenton will think twice before they betray fundamental policies the Democratic Party stands for.

Start spreading the word:

On Facebook: Share the Money Bomb event (click Share after you RSVP you’re attending). Then zoom over to Marie’s campaign page on facebook and hit “Like”.

On Twitter: Tweet your support for Marie! Use hash tag #CorfieldMoneyBomb.

Until we step up and start electing better Democrats, we’ll never get the representation we’ve been longing for. We’ll never get the type of leadership a blue state like NJ deserves. We are going all-in for Marie’s campaign. And we need you. Money Bomb July 25!

The Power of Netroots Fundraising

Once upon a time, when I was a candidate (last year, don’t ask), I benefited from New Jersey’s netroots power more than I and many others could have imagined, with something called a Money Bomb. And, last week, that same power of New Jersey’s netroots did it again, uniting to catapult LD-16 Assembly candidate Marie Corfield into the national spotlight, landing her the top spot in the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee’s list of “Essential Races.” (That’s pretty high praise from the DLCC, considering they’re the organization responsible for electing Democrats to state legislatures nationwide!)

But what good is that national title if we don’t follow up? I guess that’s what Democracy for America thought (DFA was an early endorser of Marie after all), because landing in my inbox this week was an email from DFA’s national headquarters aiming to leverage last week’s win, asking for folks to contribute to Marie’s campaign:

Marie stood up for what was right and people across the state are rallying around her. Now, let’s put her over the top against a Tea Party Republican who voted against funding for women’s health care, raising the minimum wage, and equal pay for equal work for women.

Some of you may have also received that email, many of you may not have. But, it reminded me how far small contributions from many supporters can go. If everyone who nominated Marie to help her win the DLCC honor took a moment to contribute just $20 to Marie Corfield’s campaign, she could quickly close the gap in cash-on-hand in her race. It could easily be the difference between winning and losing.

Marie can win this race if she has the resources, and we have her back. That’s why I hope you’ll Contribute to Marie Corfield this year, like so many of you contributed to me last year.

It really will make all the difference!

A Great Big Thank You!

High-fives, Jeff – Rosi

I’m nearly speechless. Thank you to Rosi, Jay, and most importantly the entire Blue Jersey community for helping to make my campaign’s money bomb an incredible success yesterday.

Together with Democracy for America and BlueAmericaPAC, we raised well over $10,000 from nearly 500 contributors – all online, all in one day. Amazing! And it brings our online fundraising across ActBlue to nearly $15,000 from over 500 individuals. And we’re just getting started! I hope you’ll join my facebook campaign page, and stay engaged as the campaign moves forward.

As the candidate, of course, I am very grateful for the support. Every campaign needs money, and yesterday was a real boost. But, as a member of the progressive community here in New Jersey, more than anything, I am proud. Proud of the strength of the community we have built and continue to build. As I’ve said over and over, this is a people’s campaign, and yesterday’s success was your success.

Thank you all so much!

🙂

This is what people-powered looks like

I have a hunch we’ll hear from Jeff later. Meanwhile, big thanks from Blue Jersey to everybody who gave in yesterday’s money bomb! – Rosi

Big hat tip to the Blue Jersey community, Blue America PAC, and Democracy for America for making the money bomb a huge success. – Matt

Honestly, when we had our initial conference call on the money bomb idea – Rosi, Jay, a DFA national staffer, and myself – we all thought somewhere between $1,000 on the low end and$5,000 on the high end would be a successful for a one day haul.  This just has never really been done in a state legislative race, so we just weren’t sure what to expect.

435 donors and $10,728 raised was double our best case scenario.  If the establishment wasn’t listening before, they are now.  more below…

Jeff Gardner Money Bomb: This is what HOT looks like

We’re about 30 minutes from the midnight deadline on our Jeff Gardner for Senate Money Bomb. If you haven’t already (even if you have), there’s still about 40 minutes left to contribute. Any amount is great.

I wanted to show you a screen capture from ActBlue’s Hot Candidates & Committees list. Incredibly, Jeff is #4, actually the only candidate who made the list today. He’s behind #1 Daily Kos (powerful national blog, which had 2 posts today on Jeff’s campaign), #2 ActBlue (which made today possible for Jeff and does so much for progressive candidates) #3 Democratic Party of Wisconsin (whose legislators showed backbone in the face of a union-busting Governor Chris Christie agrees with). Then #4 Jeff Gardner. Not too shabby.

There’s still time to join the Jeff Gardner for Senate Money Bomb.

Money Bomb still ticking and ticking

w00t! – promoted by a fist-pumping Rosi

Wow! When we decided to try this money bomb thing, I confess, I wasn’t exactly sure how it would go. But, I guess there’s something about a primary campaign against a 30-year incumbent that gets the juices flowing, because it has been sensational. Maybe we should do this more often!

Are you ready for this update? As of 6:00pm (with six more hours to go!), here’s the numbers from today:

The Money Bomb ActBlue page: $3,238 from 82 supporters.

plus

DFA’s ActBlue page: $3,176 from 159 supporters.

plus

(Blue) Jersey Jeff Gardner for Senate, money bomb page: $1,165 – 38 supporters.

That’s just from today!

Add in BlueAmerica’s ActBlue page: from yesterday and today ($1,139 from 57 supporters), and some earlier online giving, and you’re looking at:

$11,843 from 385 contributors total, with over $7,000 just today.

Please keep it going. Every dollar counts. Thank you!! 🙂

#ticktickBOOM: Jeff Gardner for Senate Money Bomb UPDATE: $2,713-plus at 3:35

As you know by now, Blue Jersey’s part of a national money bomb for Jeff Gardner’s Senate primary campaign against 30-year incumbent John Girgenti. It’s been a 10-day lead-up. And it all happens today – ticktickBOOM. Money bomb is a concentrated effort to ramp up focus & fundraising for a priority campaign, in a one-day burst. Today. This is Jeff’s first money bomb, and Blue Jersey’s. And it’s trending hot. Can you join us?

THANK YOU to everybody who’s already contributed. Every amount powers up Jeff’s campaign, and gets us closer to having a fine and tough progressive working for his District and for all of us. So, at around 3:20pm, with hours left to go, here’s an update:

Jeff’s Money Bomb ActBlue: $2,713 from 76 supporters.

plus

DFA’s ActBlue: $851 from 30 supporters.

BlueAmerica’s ActBlue: $1,124 from 55 supporters.

(Blue) Jersey Jeff Gardner for Senate, money bomb: $1,149 – 36 supporters.

None of us has ever done this before, and we didn’t know what to expect. Your response is off-the-charts. We breezed past our $1,000 initial goal early this morning, and we’re now pushing toward a goal of $5,000 or more today. And the buzz is ramping up. Jeff just finished his 2nd live-chat of the week at BlueAmerica’s page at Crooks & Liars. And today, there were two posts about Jeff on the Recommended list at Daily Kos.

Jeff’s Money Bomb is today. Every dollar counts. Can you jump in?

There is no tilting at windmills here. This is a viable campaign, with real progressive vigor behind it. Blue Jersey, you’re a huge part of this.
