The Draft Michael J. Cino for Congress Committee is Up and Running

The Draft Michael J. Cino for Congress Committee is Up and Running.

Scott Garrett has been completely ineffective – and a worthless elected official.    It is time to replace Garrett who has been nothing but a ghost in Washington and in his home district.

The Draft Michael J. Cino Facebook page is up now at https://www.facebook.com/pages…

Especially for Garrett, who pledged support for term limits in the 1990s, 14 years in Congress doing nothing has been enough.

Michael J. Cino has been a proven advocate for the people, strong economic growth and economic policies which promise American jobs.

Thank you very much.

Roy Cho and the DCBC according to PolitikerNJ

The article in Tuesday’s politickerNJ** regarding Roy Cho based on insider opinions was nauseating, disgusting, and reeked of jealousy Or perhaps a hint of anti -Korean feelings amongst some of the insiders (who are also political influences on what the DCBC does).  Many of us who are considered the “grassroots thorn in the sides” already know that such feelings exist within our party, and it is time for our Chairman to stop being such a nice guy and expose the person(s) who leaked this nonsense and fire him/her.  Because some of us can pretty easily figure out who it was.

I know that I am sick and tired of the nonsense that exists within the party of small minded people, who covet supposedly important positions or think they do, that wouldn’t get past the pearly gates no matter what they promised the guardian at the entrance.

Reading the article showed how petty these democratic insiders appear to be.  The fact that some of the democratic leaders or former candidates  appear to be considering running in two years because of the great inroads Roy made should he lose- is the best example of a person being chicken livered that I have seen in recent times.

If they didn’t have the guts to run this time, I sure as heck–read real carefully what I am saying- -I and a lot of other people sure as heck wouldn’t support him/her in 2016 especially knowing that the DCBC has insiders working against their own candidate.

I am so tired of the DCBC undermining the best people to run for elections and backing party favorites who don’t have a chance in winning.  It’s time that real Democrats find a different line to run on in 2016 because if you are really a good candidate who can’t be bought in one form or another, you don’t stand a chance of getting real support from Bergen County, unless Roy pulls it out of the box in November and helps to change things-

It’s vitally important that we support Roy Cho in November because he is one of the few candidates out there who has a real chance of defeating Garrett- He is knowledgeable about how Congress functions, understands the importance of reaching out to those who have an opposite view on an issue, and he understands fiscal responsibility.

We all need to get behind Roy Cho now, this year!

So Let’s go, Mr. Chairman and fire the person(s) behind this undermining of our own candidate, and by doing that, hopefully you can stop the Bergen County Dems from being the laughing stock of NJ and the Nation once again.

Adam who?

I’ve gone back and forth about promoting this excellent diary over the last few days. Why? Because even though my lifeblood is going to the actually viable campaigns of upstarts Upendra Chivukula (NJ-7) & Marie Corfield (LD-16), I believe in conceding no vote, no town, no district – wherever we are. But is Adam Gussen doing that? – Rosi

There have been many underfunded, longshot candidacies launched against Scott Garrett over the past decade. Some of the candidates – names are unimportant – contributed to their own wounds and left their supporters bitter and upset.

But Adam Gussen may take the cake for the worst, most embarrassing, and downright shameful candidacy ever run against Scott Garrett.

While we knew he was a longshot, unlikely to put together a serious challenge, he has proven that occasionally even the cynics can be too hopeful.

With two weeks to go, and following the most recent round of FEC filings, Adam Gussen has failed to prove that he has raised a single dollar. His FEC filing page is a testament to his consistency, 0, 0, 0, 0. (I would link to his FEC page, but when I try to access it, the FEC responds: “The candidate you have selected has not reported financial activity.”)

PolitickerNJ this week put Gussen in their “Losers” column:

No one expected the Teaneck Deputy Mayor to be ultra competitive in his general election campaign challenge of U.S. Rep. Scott Garrett (R-5), but the Democrat to date has supplied no evidence that he’s spending any money.

I am not trying to humiliate Mr Gussen, but a failure on this magnitude, a campaign of this inadequacy, is inexcusable. The 5th should be one of New Jersey’s most competitive House seats. He has had nearly a year to raise money, nearly a year to figure out the basics of running for Congress. He faced an uphill challenge, but we didn’t expect he would take out a shovel and dig an even deeper hole.

Out of the many candidates who have dissapointed Democrats and activists in the 5th before, Gussen may be the worst. Partially because there was a real opportunity wasted.

He Said What??

Although it’s not a surprise that a Republican said something stupid what is surprising is that no one in the main stream media really wrote about it.

Last October Congressman Scott Garrett was at an event where a supported made the comment that doing business in the American Midwest was easier because of their “straight-forward” attitude.

Congressman Garrett had this to add to that;

“Other ethnicities are not that way,” Garrett said. “They’ll say yes to you constantly and then you’ll realize they really didn’t mean it.”

Then in typical republican fashion he tried to back track, but that wasn’t very successful either he clarified his statement by saying that “he meant people in other countries”.

One of the few places it was covered was MotherJones.com you can read the whole article here: http://www.motherjones.com/moj…

Candidates Forum for 5th Congressional District

promoted by Rosi

With the redistricting of Bergen County, many residents are being confronted with having to choose new congressmen/women to represent them in the newly configured districts.  Both Congressional Districts 5 & 9 are confronting this situation.

On Sunday, May 20, three democratic hopefuls will be present for a debate/forum in Teaneck, NJ.  The candidates, (listed in alphabetical order) Jason Castle, Adam Gussen, and Diane Sare will be attending as they vie for the Demiocratic votes in District 5.  Whoever the Democratic Primary winner is will be the Democratic Committee of Bergen County’s (*DCBC) candidate to run against Garrett.

Jason Castle is a political newcomer.  The DCBC’s candidate, Adam Gussen, is deputy Mayor of Teaneck, and LaRouch Candidate Diane Sare, has 20 years experience spreading the political beliefs of LaRouche.

The Candidates will answer questions from the audience and will have the opportunity to debate one another.

This debate/forum begins at 3 PM and is open to all citizens of Congressional District 5.

(*DCBC – The Democratic Committee of Bergen County was formerly called the Bergen County Democratic Committee.)

Mark Quick will Try to Retire Garrett by Running as the Reform Party Candidate

Cross posted at http://retiregarrett.com

For those of you who read politickernj.com – and let’s face it, if you found your way to this post, it would be more surprising if you didn’t have the site bookmarked – you’ll know that Mark D. Quick has decided to run for Congress again for the seat currently occupied by Scott Garrett.

In 2010, Mr. Quick ran on the “For Americans” ticket and received 1,646 out of 190,657 votes cast.  I can already hear you asking why we should care about a candidate who received less than one percent of the vote (in fact it was 0.83%) the last time around.  Well, thanks to redistricting the political landscape has shifted somewhat in CD5.   Further, public dissatisfaction with Congress has reached an all-time low for their job approval rating (just 9%.  By comparison, the approval rating for homework among second graders is 14%) and Mr. Garrett is being attacked from both ends of the political spectrum here at home.  If you believe party registration is a good indicator of actual voting results, redistricting has altered the political landscape in what was an R+7 district to least 3 points better for the Democrats – R+4.  I’m not suggesting that Mr. Quick can win this race, but he could have an impact.

The following is part one of a series in which we’ll explore Scott Garrett’s positions on the key issues facing NJ5 and the nation…

If everyone in Washington voted like Scott Garrett, this country would be a very different place. While Mr. Garrett will tell you that’s a good thing, here are the facts on just a few of the issues facing the United States.  Let the people of New Jersey’s 5th Congressional District decide.
