Pemberton GOP: Airbrushing Racism Since...

So the Pemberton and Burlington County GOP got caught today. Take a look at a before screen shot of the Pemberton GOP website and see if anything looks out of place...

Ah, what a tasteful municipal party message. Do you notice the creative graphic, "Obama loves America like OJ loved Nicole?" Now they can't say they just put it up there because there is a little note that the last time the page was updated was June 24, meaning this was up on their site for at least two weeks. Well Burlington County Democratic Chairman Rick Perr called them out on their blatant hate and magically, the graphic is gone...

You'll notice now that the last update to the site was made on... July 8, aka today. Just because they take down the tasteless image does not put the dog whistle away in Burlington County. Perr listed some other instances where the whistle has been used...

Gen. Preston Taylor - when he ran for Township Committee in Lumberton, the GOP used racist mailers in an effort to suggest that his election was going to turn Lumberton into Camden;
Dean Buono - the GOP tried to play on his Italian last name to suggest he was associated with members of organized crime;
County GOP attempts to link Burlington Democrats to "Camden" Democrats to invoke subtle images of racism."

I wonder what Freeholders Fenton, Jordan and even Congressional Candidate Chris Myers will have to say about this. On second thought, I can answer my own question; probably nothing.

from a political party that has appealed to the worst fears and lowest instincts is dreaming. Essentially, the party more closely aligned with Ku Klux Klan values is little more than bigots in business suits rather than sheets and hoods.
Their underlying message since Nixon's Southern Strategy has been: Vote for us; we're bigots like you.

Restore democracy and the Constitution for which it stands.

You've set up quite a pattern for the BurlCo GOP from the Taylor-Buono-Obama smears, and this is one that reflects very poorly on the county organization and the individual township ones (I didn't know there were Republicans in Pemberton, either). I'm not sure that there is even any subtlety to the racist undertones of the Obama-O.J. mailer. Then again, this is the group that tried to connect Tracy Riley with terrorists because of her husband's job last year. Classy stuff.

and let me tell you, these guys are even worse to live around. They disrupt the town council meetings, yelling and carrying on. You see, the Republicans were all voted out of office four years ago, unceremoniously dumped by the voters because of their behavior, and as you see, things have not changed. Since then, with a second Democratic mayor (the first, who's name escapes me at the moment, decided the office was not worth the crap he had to take from the local Republican party) who was a former police captain in Pemberton, he's more than able to put up with their nonsense. For the first time two years ago, the Republicans had "challengers" at the polls. It was appalling. If they had attempted to challenge my daughter the first time she was voting, I would have ripped the woman's hair out.
