Blue Jerseyans, you were there every step of the way, blogging relentlessly and working with us side by side, for the new state law that bans discrimination based on gender identity or expression. Monday, June 18 is the weekday the law takes effect! And Garden State Equality and the Gender Rights Advocacy Association of New Jersey have an incredible program to mark the day.
On Monday at 7:00 pm at the Unitarian Church of Montclair, 67 Church Street, Montclair, we present an evening with Susan Stanton, the city manager fired by Largo, Florida when city officials learned she was transitioning her gender.
Also speaking will be Nadine Smith, the head of Equality Florida who was arrested when she handed out leaflets saying the firing of Susan was discriminatory. Yes, arrested just for that (Florida ain't New Jersey!) Free of charge, no RSVP or tickets required. Come join us, Blue Jersey, for a riveting evening, a great celebration! |
