The reason I ask is that the animosities run deep and wide between members of Pink Floyd, especially Waters and Gilmore. It would take something incredibly special to get them back together again. Admittedly, they have done it once and it was magical. But the schism between them yawns and its very real.

So don't hold your breath. Just thank your lucky, lucky stars if they do it, for once again, there will be magic.

It certainly would be nice to see other NJ musicians play on that show. I can think of one, offhand...

Floyd and the Boss (0.00 / 0)

How would Atlantic City sound with Floyd playing it?  If he is playing, I bet they'd hold off announcing it so some of the other performers' fans get in.  Boss at Giants Stadium, even if for only an hour, would sell-out immediately in the absence of a tour this year.  Although I listen to almost everybody playing, I'm not sure some of the other artists would receive as warm a welcome from a Boss dominant crowd.  The organizers probably don't want a bunch of empty seats on TV while everyone is milling around waiting for him to come on.

Does anybody know how much tickets are going to be?

That this is going to be a benefit concert. The other fact is that to make the most money for the benefiting charity, you gotta sell one hell of a lot of tickets. The best way to do that is in a stadium, since they hold one hell of a lot of people.

And yeah, I know what I am talking about. I used to work for Don Law, up in Boston. Did a lot of stadium shows.

The mass transit service to the stadium is wanting? Well, mass transit has lagged across the state for a long time. Don't blame the concert for a shameful mass transit situation.

in a caravan of buses running on veggie biodiesel?  How cool would that be!  Or, we could run Insight and Prius carpools.  We could canoe there through the Meadowlands.  Lots of ways - Don't worry, I'll think of more............

The Meadowlands is actually a great place to have it.  The environmental movement really started in our neck of the woods.  The Hudson River fishermen helped start the Riverkeeper movement and to this day help promote a clean environment.  The Riverkeeper movement started on the Hudson and moved to the Hackensack Meadowlands where Captain Bill Sheehan carries the torch today.  I got to know Captain Bill because my boyfriend - Eric Nelsen, founded the Hackensack River Canoe Club in 1984 - over 20 years ago - to get folks out in the wetlands to inspire them to preserve the wildlife there and not write it off.  There are now hundreds of members of that canoe club today - many of whom still help lead the fight to save the wetlands and wildlife in NJ.  It was the canoe club members who catalogued and recorded the wildlife and conditions in the Meadowlands and gave this precious data to the Army Corps of Engineers to prove that the wildlife there was worth saving.  The fight to save the Hackensack River and the wetlands and the folks who started it - Karen Siletti, Steve Barnes, Captain Bill Sheehan, Hugh Carolla and many other volunteers - all these folks you may not know - were there in the very beginning - trying to save the environment here in NJ before anybody even realized we should. It was these same folks who told their story to the National Geographic crew that in turn told it to everyone. I was there, in another canoe, while Eric paddled the National Geographic photographer through the reeds at sunset.  Many in NJ may not know all the unsung heroes of the environmental fights here in NJ, but I know them and the Meadowlands is a perfect place to tell the world about the environment and what we have to do to save it.  We had written off the Meadowlands, but when I first saw a giant blue heron take flight through the reeds it just about took my breath away.  We were close to losing those wetlands and the wildlife there forever, but we realized our mistake at the very last hour.  Being from NJ I feel like I have to tell folks from other states that still have more trees than we do - don't be like us - don't let the pollution get this far.  Don't make the same mistakes we have.  We are trying to turn it all around now.  If we can show that NJ is trying to make amends, maybe it isn't too late for our planet.
