And Now, Your Michael Wildes Moment of Zen

by: Scott Shields

Fri Mar 16, 2007 at 07:08:48 PM EDT

(I suspect this write-your-own-caption moment will not be the last to emerge in this race. - promoted by noweeman)

Following up on the Inside Edge post awarding Englewood Mayor Michael Wildes -- and BCDO candidate for Senate in the 37th -- the "Roger Chugh Award for the most extensive online ego wall," I thought I'd post my personal favorite from the gallery.  Here's the Mayor presenting the one and only Michael Bolton with the key to the city of Englewood.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Samir: No one in this country can ever pronounce my name right. It's not that hard: Samir Na-gheen-an-a-jar. Nagheenanajar.

Michael Bolton: Yeah, well at least your name isn't Michael Bolton.

Samir: You know there's nothing wrong with that name.

Michael Bolton: There was nothing wrong with it... until I was about 12 years old and that no-talent ass clown became famous and started winning Grammys.

Samir: Hmm... well why don't you just go by Mike instead of Michael?

Michael Bolton: No way. Why should I change? He's the one who sucks.

Reason Number 1258 (0.00 / 0)
to vote for Loretta Weinberg:

Bolton doesn't sing at the Inauguration.

It's not a particularly snappy signature, but here's what I think we need in the next NJ Democratic State Chair.

My, that's a small key (0.00 / 0)
I thought when you get a key to the city, you get some big key on a plaque and not some old skeleton key someone found in their junk drawer and taped to a business card.

i don't know... (0.00 / 0)
i like the one with hevesi better, myself.

Is that a key to a closet? (0.00 / 0)

Would you mind clarifying that statement? (0.00 / 0)
I can't possibly believe you meant that in the way it comes across.

Oh that Michael Wildes is so sexy - like a box turtle with whom I want to civil union (0.00 / 0)
to borrow a phrase from that phone poll.  Who could resist the sport jackets akin to those Monty Hall wore in Let's Make A Deal...

That's where I have seen that jacket before! (0.00 / 0)
I'm still laughing over that photo.  Hilarious.  I'm no fashion plate, but that is a Monty Hall jacket if ever I saw one...

If Michael was to be taken seriously, believe me, I would.  But even the Dems in his own town don't take him seriously.  In fact, the Weinberg, Huttle, Johnson team just opened their campaign HQ right in downtown Englewood, a stone's throw from City Hall.  That about cracked me up.  The fact that the campaign slogan for the Weinberg team is Real Bergen Democrats is another joke in Michael Wildes general direction.  Michael would often say that he was the only real Democrat.  What Michael "Narcissus" Wildes might turn out to be is the only real Ferriero-crat left in Englewood.

The Weinberg team is also having their big kickoff at their new HQ on Thursday night March 22nd at 5 to 8 pm.  Recognize the date?  That is the same date and time as the BCDO District 37th sham convention that we are all boycotting.  That is when Wildes, Zisa and the Kid get made, I mean, VOTED onto the ballot as the BCDO candidates.  So, you can party with the Weinberg team as they start their campaign of Real Bergen Democrats for Real People, or you can go to the old USSR type nominating convention to feel like you are actually voting even though there is only one choice all the way down the ticket that Ferriero picked for you.

If you are on the Bergen County Democratic Committee, you do have a choice, you know.  Unless you have a county job.  I don't.  So I'll be at the Weinberg team HQ in Englewood that nite at the kickoff for a very interesting primary campaign.  Hopefully I'll see you there.

One Vote. Yours. It really does matter.
