McCain Hires Our Sock-Puppeteer

by: JRB

Thu Dec 21, 2006 at 12:42:42 AM EST

New Hampshire beware! Jill Hazelbaker is coming to a blog near you!
Jill Hazelbaker, battle tested in New Jersey this year as Tom Kean Jr.'s Communications Director, is headed to John McCain's presidential campaign. She will serve as Communications Director for McCain's campaign in New Hampshire.
Last September, Hazelbaker spent valuable work time posing as a Democrat on Blue Jersey -- from Junior's office!

This is almost too good to be true. (0.00 / 0)
We at Blue Hampshire are the trio that unearthed the other big sockpuppet of the 2006 season, Charlie Bass' Policy Director Tad Furtado, who was sockpuppeting from House computers.

This is going to be great fun.  I love primary season!

So, what names should we be on the looking out for her to use when she trolls our site?

Astroturfing or Sockpuppetry? (0.00 / 0)
I thought astroturfing was creating fake grassroots movements.

They did both... (0.00 / 0)
She was sockpuppeting -- posing as multiple different users -- as part of an astroturfing campaign to make it seem that Democrats didn't support Sen. Menendez.  So Jill's really a two-time loser.

On a somewhat related note, Jill did a really horrible job and the press hated her guts because they constantly caught her lying to them.  Nice hire, Straight Talk.

Democrats for Giuliani? (0.00 / 0)
Is this yet another reason that progressives should hope that Rudy Giuliani wins the Republican nomination?

As much as I hated the guy when hewas Mayor of NYC, as far as national Republicans go, he is probably the least bad of the bunch.

That said, I would still vote for whatever Democrat wins the nomination over him, but I don't believe that four or even eight years of Giuliani would be anywhere nearly as bad as eight years of Bush.

Giuliani? You're kidding! (0.00 / 0)
He isn't going to be successful in the Repug primaries because he's too "left" for their extreme r/w base.  The best he could do, especially if McCain wins in the primaries, would be to get picked as VP candidate on the theory that the two of them together would be a strong ticket.

But I don't buy the assumption that McCain will be the nominee--as busy as he is pandering to the r/w, they don't really like him.  It's ironic that some of the Repugs who might have become their nominee have been wiped out or have withdrawn.  (The penalty we progressives pay for success.)

For my money, anybody would be better than Dubya--it ain't gonna be hard to be better than him.  But that's irrelevant, especially if it means a r/w Repug in the White House.  Think of the Supreme Court (oy)!  And now that we've won Congress, we have to keep what we have and elect more.

There's an obvious conclusion to be drawn here.  Draw it!

"Do what you can, with what you have, where you are."  (Teddy Roosevelt)

you're probably right, but... (0.00 / 0)
...if it isn't Giuliani or McCain, who do you think the Republican Presidential nominee will be?  Mitt Romney?  Newt Gingrich?  Wouldn't that be wonderful?
