Setting the record, umm, straight?

by: Jay Lassiter

Tue Nov 28, 2006 at 11:27:19 AM EST

Remember back in the day when everyone knew Governor Mc Greevy was gay, but The Scandal hadn't yet broke?  Seems like ages ago to me, too.

Well, tonite the McGreevy/Cipel saga takes another little twist and our ex-gayGov's strapping Israeli lover, Golan Cipel, shares his side of the story.

Courier Post:

The first sit-down interview by American television with Golan Cipel, the one-time aide ex-Gov. Jim McGreevey said he had a relationship with, will air during an 11 p.m. (CBS) newscast tonight.

In the interview Cipel talks for the first time since McGreevey's book and responds to his claims that they had a sexual relationship.

That's WNYC for all your north Jersey types, and KYW for those of us in the south.  According to the Philly CBS affiliate, "Viewers will hear Cipel's response and a detailed version of what he says happened with McGreevey."

Now if you're like me, you're thinking detailed version and maybe shuddering a bit. But of course I am fascinated to hear what he has to say.  Besides, this is on network TV, so the interview should be relatively tame.

Credibility (3.00 / 1)
Other than the allure of watching a car wreck, why would any of us watch?  Does Golan Cipel have any credibility whatsoever???  If you believe the lurid stuff, then you also have to believe that Golan thought that he was hired as an adviser for Homeland Security because of his long and decorated service in Israel as opposed to his relationship with McGreevey.  And, he got the jobs with lobbying firms after leaving because of his poetry skills and strong work ethic?  I wouldn't be surprised to see either a book from Golan (maybe Judith Regan is looking for a more uplifting project) or a lawsuit against McGreevey to try to get some of The Confession's proceeds.

McGreevey hemmed and hawed with his book and interviews, but at least had a few morsels of interest.  Golan is an absolute nobody.

the way i see it.... (0.00 / 0)
...Cipel has two options: he can fess up and spill lurid details such as sexual positions, penis size etc.
OR he can get all wonton hetro on us and start humping on the nearest woman's leg.  aren't you just a little curious?  i know i sure am, i have the TEVO all set.

I admit this whole thing isn't the most pressing issue in the state.  so you can chalk this post up to it being a slow newsday.

    McGreevey's HS disowns him (0.00 / 0)
Hey, Jay, here's one for the books: as a matter of small fact, I attended high school with former Governor McGreevey -- in fact, we were alphabetically joined at the hip (home rooms and suchlike). And no, I didn't think he was gay, but I was relaly busy staying in my own closet at the time.

HOWEVER ... google St. Joseph's High School, Metchen NJ some time. NOT ONE WORD about their most famous graduate ...

Hell, even Fordham admitted Captain Kangaroo was a graduate, and Rutgers LOVES Mr. Magoo ...

This aired last week. WCBS TV has it archived for viewing at http://search.wcbstv...

I saw part of it and it was pretty horrible smear by Cipel who for some reason thinks he really does have credibility.
