They'll blame Corzine for anything

by: Jason Springer

Fri Jul 03, 2009 at 11:07:19 AM EDT

Another day, another round of press releases. On Monday, along with the budget, we had NJ Republicans blaming Governor Corzine because the MTA, you know for New York, wants to raise bridge tolls. We get this scary headline from Scott Rumana:
EVEN FLEEING NEW JERSEY WILL COST MORE
Yes, they even used the caps to shout it out. Oh my, those masses headed for the state line will now have to pay more to cross the bridge because of the evil Jon Corzine.

But Rumana wasn't alone as he was joined by Minority Leader DeCroce and Assemblyman Rooney said this was another example of NJ picking up the slack for NY. Just a few problems here as they blame Corzine for something else.  From a recent Matt Freedman piece at PolitickerNJ:

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is trying to talk current Mayor Michael Bloomberg into endorsing Chris Christie for governor of New Jersey, and Bloomberg may be listening.

The endorsement is far from a sure thing, but a source familiar with the talks said that the billionaire mayor, still sore over Governor Jon Corzine's opposition to his congestion pricing plan last year, might be willing to jump into the fray to support Christie.

Last April, fearing that the plan would impose higher fees on New Jersey commuters, Corzine called it "outrageous."

Giuliani political advisor Anthony Carbonetti acknowledged said that "there are definitely conversations taking place" between Bloomberg and Giuliani.

"Rudy is supportive of both Mike and Chris and would love to see them get together" he said.

So Corzine was so passionate about opposing the last plan from NY, that now the Mayor of NY is being wooed for an endorsement of Rumana's and DeCroce's boy Chris Christie. Maybe since the conversations are already going on between Christie and Rudy and Bloomberg, they can pass on word since Corzine has already made enemies going to bat for New Jersey. But instead, they write press releases.

So: Does Christie support (0.00 / 0)
extra commuter tolls to cross the Hudson? Someone needs to get him on record.

Christie (0.00 / 0)
I wouldn't be surprised if they try to blame him for Jesus' death.

Wonder What Mayor Booker Would Think ... (3.00 / 1)
... if this came to pass -

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is trying to talk current Mayor Michael Bloomberg into endorsing Chris Christie for governor of New Jersey, and Bloomberg may be listening.
I remember back in April, when Mayor Booker was so eager to endorse Mayor Mike early, and my thought at the time was -

Booker endorsing this early will have a negative impact on Thompson's fundraising, such as it is.  So, Mayor Booker is doing more than simply offering his support, he is making it harder for Thompson to get any public recognition, or for there to be any sort of debate on the issues in, the NYC race.

Also, there's a good chance that Mayor Mike the "born again" Republican will cross the river to endorse Chris Christie in the gubernatorial election.  So, Mayor Booker better get ready to receive a "slap in the face" as a token of Mayor Bloomberg's gratitude.

I only hope that after he gets that slap, he doesn't say, "Gee, didn't see that one coming."

Corzine dosen't want NY (0.00 / 0)
to raise the toll on us because Corzine just raised the tolls on the tpk and parkway 50% ,I know it's not the 800% he wanted but he'll get another shot at it within the next 4 years .He just thinks he should get all our tax money not other states
