Rutgers Football may have had a good signing day yesterday, but Senator Sweeney is still focused on getting Rutgers President McCormick to. From Capitol Quickies:
Senate Majority Leader Stephen Sweeney, D-Gloucester, has proposed a resolution in the state Senate calling on Rutgers University President Richard McCormick to resign.
Sweeney made similar waves in an interview with the Star-Ledger in December, following Athletic Director Robert Mulcahy's dismissal. Such a move would be strictly, though strongly, symbolic, as the Legislature can't actually force the dismissal of a university president.
They tried to make the story go away by quickly by getting rid of Bob Mulcahy, but there was more than one person who contributed to the problems of the Rutgers Athletic program. It doesn't seem like the Legislature can really do very much besides continuing to bring attention to the situation.
