Bush Admin Sets an Artificial Timetable to Cut and Run From War On Terror

(I realize this post isn't about New Jersey. Skip to the next one if you don't want to read it. - jmelli)

"Two years ago, I told the Congress and the country that the war on terror would be a lengthy war, a different kind of war, fought on many fronts in many places. Iraq is now the central front. Enemies of freedom are making a desperate stand there -- and there they must be defeated."
     - George W Bush, Sept 3, 2003 (whitehouse.gov)

Juan Melli :: Bush Admin Sets an Artificial Timetable to Cut and Run From War On Terror
I've never believed this bullshit about Iraq being a "central front" on the war on terror, but Bush has been repeating it for over two years, so he must believe it pretty strongly.

Leaving before some unknown, unquantified, imaginary target is met in Iraq is, according to Bush, an invitation for more terrorist attacks: "Setting an artificial deadline to withdraw would vindicate the terrorist tactics of beheadings and suicide bombings and mass murder and invite new attacks on America."

If we're to believe the President and what Reuters is reporting, Bush has decided to pick 2007 as the arbitrary year to cut and run from Iraq, retreat from the central front of the war on terror, and invite terrorist attacks on our country.

The United States and Britain are planning to pull all their troops out of Iraq by the spring of 2007, two British newspapers reported in their Sunday editions, quoting unnamed senior defense ministry sources.

The Sunday Telegraph said the planned pull-out followed an acceptance by the two governments that the presence of foreign troops in Iraq was now a large obstacle to securing peace.

Bush has decided to surrender on the war on terror. His words/logic - not mine. No one cuts and runs like chickenhawk Republicans and the 101st Fighting Keyboardists gearing up for an election.
