It's 6 a.m. -- Have You Voted Yet?

by: huntsu

Tue Nov 04, 2008 at 06:00:00 AM EST

Four years ago this song blew me away, an amazing call to arms and for young people to vote.  I really thought this song would make a difference, and maybe it did make it closer in some way.

But we lost because not enough people voted.  Don't make that mistake this time.

First one to vote in my precinct in (4.00 / 1)
Cranford.  A handful of people in line after me.  This is the moment we've all been waiting 8 long years for.

number 6 (4.00 / 1)
i was up at the crack of dawn to get my vote on.  and judging from the turnout in my cherry hill district it's gonna be a helluva long day for the poll workers, bless their hearts!

I voted absentee (4.00 / 2)
and I'm not sorry I did, but I did miss going to my polling place at Trenton Central HS and seeing the familiar faces there. I was usually first. This year, probably not. Early reports indicated massive turnout. Could be a long night.

Around 6:30 (0.00 / 0)
There was a long line, but I knew my precinct so I didn't have to wait to be told.

Tell your friends and family to know their precincts. It will make things easier for everyone.

Winslow Twnshp, Camden county (4.00 / 1)
A coworker tells me he arrived at 5:50 a.m. and there were HUNDREDS of people waiting on line already. He said he was therefore going to vote after work - I encouraged him to try to drive back to Winslow from Philly and return so as to vote during the daytime slack hours.

It is totally off the hook. If people can go between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. they should do so. Most of my coworkers are Philadelphia residents and the turnout here is huge.

Bernardsville (4.00 / 1)
My husband went over at 6:00 and said there was already a long line, which is extremely strange for our sleepy little town.  He encouraged me to wait until off hours, but I'm so antsy to get there, I'm not sure how much longer I can wait!

I agree with the others who are sending support to the poll workers.  It is going to be a long day for them.  Hope people can remember to be as civil as possible to those who are trying to help.

P.S. LOVED the video!  Totally not my kind of music, and it still spoke to me.  Thank you for posting.

B'ville (0.00 / 0)
I'd expect B'ville to lean pretty heavily Republican, so a heavy turnout is remarkable. Love the town, haven't been there in ages.
