Yes, when your region is defined by "Eagles stuff" that means the Philadelphia Phillies are your home team. Congrats to all the fans, you have been waiting so long for a championship!

WOOOOO!!!!!! (4.00 / 2)
AHHHHHH! I'm so excited, and yes...I'm totally freaking out. In a good way.

Cole Hamels named MVP....couldn't find anyone who deserves it more!

A friend (4.00 / 1)
texted me from a local bar here in South Jersey...it was just one word, "Pandemonium!"

Obama wins too (4.00 / 3)
I can't imagine Obama could have planned it better.  In a state where the McCain campaign is "making their last stand", Obama ran a half hour commercial on the lead in to the Phillies clinching the World Series.

Imagine the viewership at the start of that game tonight, which was actually the middle of the game.   People were prob tuning into the pregame show or the start of the game and would have caught some portion of the Obama half hour.

And don't forget Tampa too (4.00 / 1)
People were all eyes and ears in the swing state of Florida, too, I'm betting!

Great point (0.00 / 0)
couple the Tampa viewership w/ the Clinton-Obama rally which will be front page of the paper tomorrow and it's a good Obama day in Florida.

MyDD on Philadelphia viewership (0.00 / 0)
Pretty impressive:
Nearly a third of television households in the Philadelphia market tuned into the Obama event immediately preceding the World Series, making the market Obama's second best for the evening.

"Eagles stuff" (4.00 / 1)
It's the true definition of whether you're in south Jersey or not - if there's equal numbers of NY Giants junk to Eagles in your neighborhood, you live in the center of central NJ - if it's all Eagles all the time, you are in the South. And yes, the Phillies track the same way, though baseball fans aren't quite so big on tagging their territory (at least in my experience).

Though for a born NYC Jersey raised sports noncombatant like myself, who works and in a day or two will live in Philadelphia, I do hate it when the Philly team wins ... the fans are SO over the top!

The parade (0.00 / 0)
will be tomorrow at noon, going down Broad Street from Market to the stadiums!

go early (0.00 / 0)
expect to stay late. take mass transit, it is going to be absolute pandemonium. one of my more Phillies-besotted coworkers was in here a couple of minutes ago telling me he was seriously contemplating renting an RV which he could drive to the stadium parking lot well in advance of the festivities, camp out until the party started, then stay in it until he could drive off unimpeded after the parade and all is over. Really. It's gonna be nutty. There isn't enough money in the world to get me in a crowd that big, not after seeing the Grateful Dead with 400,000 of my closest friends in Englishtown in 1977.

per eagles vrs. giants stuff.

I had dinner last Saturday night at the Charlie Brown's on Rt. 9 in Forked River. Phone book gives it as Lacey, but it's Forked River. Deep, deep in Ocean county, exit 67 or thereabouts on the Parkway.

The bartendress and two of the waitresses were wearing #10 Eli Manning Giants jerseys. Not an Eagles thang to be seen anywhere.

Which is exactly what I would expect. Forked River is well above Tuckerton, the traditional southern end of the Keith Line (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keith_line) which traditionally divides West from East Jersey (or south from North).

Had we been in Egg Harbor township, I would have expected to see restaurant workers wearing Donovan McNabb Eagles gear.

Hmmm (0.00 / 0)
The last time the Phillies won the world series was 1980, just before Reagan was elected.

Insert comment here.

Bookends (4.00 / 2)
Bookends of a profoundly regrettable era in American politics.
