What the Congressman is telling Veterans in the district, he is very willing to cast a vote in an obviously meaningless effort for Vets, but he votes against meaningful legislation that will positively impact Veterans lives.
It should be pointed out that the New GI Bill for the 21st Century was introduced by Senator Jim Webb, co sponsored by Republican Senator Chuck Hagel, endorsed by the VFW, American Legion, Iraq and Afghanistan Vets and a host of other Veterans organizations.
How can the Congressman begrudge a college education to this generation of vets coming home from Iraq and Afgahnistan ?
Under the old GI Bill, college benefits couldn't even pay for community college. My father served on an Escort Carrier in the Pacific during WW2, my dad came home, earned a PHD in math thru the GI bill. Bought his first home thru the VA mortgage program and got married and started a family.
I'm sorry Congressman Frelinghuysen, what was good enough for my Dad, is good enough for our boys and girls coming back from 2 or 3 or 4 tours of Iraq and Afgahnistan.
The Congressman defends his earmarks, which in practical terms are items he votes against. But if an earmark can stand on its own merits, the Congressman can easily choose to introduce the earmark as an amendment in the VA appropriations process.
Rodney doesn't vote for Vets, there is no reason Vets should vote for Rodney. |
