Is Marriage Equality Politically Risky? Connecticut Poll Says "No."

by: Hopeful

Wed Oct 15, 2008 at 08:02:13 PM EDT

Following the Connecticut Supreme Court's decision requiring marriage equality, the Hartford Courant has polled gay marriage and found it is supported 53-42:

Among independent voters, the total was almost the same as the overall result: 52 percent support the decision and 44 percent oppose it. The poll of 502 adults has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 percentage points.

I take this as yet more evidence that there is little political risk in supporting marriage equality here in New Jersey.

N.L. is going to yell at you for using the "wrong" term. :-) (0.00 / 0)
But, you may be forgiven because you agree with him.  ;-)

I hope I'm not in trouble.

I got two marriage equality's for us and one gay marriage for the google index to help those not in the know to find it.

The poll shows that supporting marriage equality is not politically deadly, but actively supporting something the 44% (maybe 48%) oppose is "risky".   Of course, actively opposing something that 52% (maybe 56%) support is rather risky too, so I expect most pols to continue to dodge the issue.
