Got no Lawn signs ? Its not stopping Essex for Obama

by: FogerRox

In NJ the Obama campaign is not handing out very many free lawn signs. 500,000 lawnsigns costs about a 1/2 million bucks. But that means other battleground states can have our money, where it will be put to good use.

Lawnsigns are good visibility, so how are we in Essex County NJ, making up for the lack of lawn signs ? We are going back the old school boots on the ground visibility. The Honk & Wave rally. This is Obama turf, let there be doubt about it.

Join me for a trip in the Way Back Machine....

Remember that Movie line, "WE don't need no stinking Badges", well we dont need any stinking lawn signs for visibility, lets make our own signs from poster board, which is available at stores like CVS or Pathmark for a dollar. Grab a magic maker and make a sign,  do your own thing. Bring your video camera and then post the video to you tube, and don't forget to include lots of tags, "Your state for Obama", "Your county for Obama", "Barack Obama" & "Joe Biden". Tags at you tube are important, it allows others to find your videos more easily, and increases the virality of your video.

I organized a honk and wave in 2006 for Congressional candidate Tom Wyka NJ-11, (Tom's running again in 2008) made a video, everyone had a ton of fun.

I went down to Broward County Florida in 2004 to work for Kerry Edwards, I organized 3 teams of volunteers to do this sort of visibility at the 3 southern Broward early vote locations I was responsible for, it was hilarious, I made sure that everyone understood not to respond to the occasional bird flipping and people yelling BUSH. And kept it about having fun.

A few years ago I got my picture on the front of the local paper, I was doing my routine at a Iraq War protest in support of Cindy Sheehan when she was camped out by George Bushs ranch.

If you are in a state that is foregoing the traditional resourses so that money can go to other states, you can do plenty to make up the difference, earned, or free media is very important here. Start to organize your Honk & Wave Rallys now. I picked Friday afternoons 4pm to 6pm, every Friday until election day, build up attendance thru your network of friends and mybarackobama.com. Once you have a dozen or so people attending, make sure the local paper sends a photographer & a reporter to cover the local news you have made happen, those small town weeklys love this stuff.

I also got pictures of me at a Corzine for Governor event in the local paper. Corzine got 2 pictures in the paper, & so did I.

See our County wide visibility project here at MyBO. Essex County NJ is Obama turf, we're leaving no doubt about it.

Free media and Obama visibility is a win win. Its easy, fun, and can truly make a difference in blue states where resources are tight.
Only 3 more weeks of John McCain, do you think we can make it?

YES WE CAN
