Rodney doesnt stand up for veterans

Promoted by Jason Springer because our Veterans deserve better.

Its a shame that Rodney Frelinghuysen, a Vietnam veteran does so little to support his fellow veterans. Congressman Frelinghuysen is in the rare position to represent those who gone into harms way, and come back home to find the VA underfunded with discretionary funding that can't be relied upon during the fiscal year.

Most or all Veterans organizations that score members of congress on their voting record on Veterans issues place Congressman Frelinghuysen at the bottom of the list.

Since 2000 Congressman Frelinghuysen has voted against everything on the Vets agenda, except for items that were passed unanimously or nearly so. According to Disabled Veterans of America, Congressman Frelinghuysen has the worst record on disabled veterans in the NJ House delegation.

FogerRox :: Rodney doesnt stand up for veterans
Just this summer Congressman Frelinghuysen voted against the new GI BIll for the 21st Century.

Tom Wyka, NJ-11

With college costs going up, GI benefits have not kept pace over 22 years.

Tom Wyka, NJ-11, veterans

GI college benefits couldn't even pay for community college. My father served on an Escort Carrier in the Pacific during WW2, my dad came home, earned a PHD in math thru the GI bill. Bought his first home thru the VA mortgage program and got married and started a family.

How can Congressman Frelinghuysen legitimately begrudge the same benefits to returning soldiers in this day and age? Congressman Frelinghuysen's voting record on veterans is indefensible, and shameful.

Disabled Veterans of America score Congressman Frelinghuysen 5 out of 16.

Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America ranks the NJ delegation:

New Jersey
Rep. Robert E. Andrews A-
Rep. Michael A. Ferguson B-
Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen C+
Rep. Scott Garrett         C-
Rep. Rush Holt                 B
Senator Frank R. Lautenberg B+
Rep. Frank A. LoBiondo B-
Senator Robert Menendez B
Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr.        B
Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr.        A-
Rep. Donald M. Payne       C
Rep. Steven R. Rothman B+
Rep. Jim Saxton                C
Rep. Christopher H. Smith B

Thats right Scott Garrett and Rodney Frelinghuysen are at the bottom of the list. Unfortunately they share that distinction with Donald Payne, a great Congressman, with a great voting record, who I would suggest, should  do better on Veterans Issues.

In this year of great change, tipping the scales in NJ-11 is now a possibility. With Tom Wyka's growing strength amongst unaffiliated voters in NJ-11 combined with the appeal of Barack Obama, the race in NJ-11 might now be considered a single digit race.

Please donate 8 bucks in '08 to Tom Wyka. Lets flip this district and deliver NJ-11 to Barack Obama and Tom Wyka.

Why do Republicans (4.00 / 1)
abuse veterans?
In this case as in many others, Republicans give only lip service, and I don't mean the Jeff Gannon/Larry Craig kind.

Restore democracy and the Constitution for which it stands.

Rodney Exploits Our Military (4.00 / 1)
We must revive the kind of support for veterans that returning World War II GIs enjoyed. The men and women who serve our nation in the military are not stupid. Once they become of aware of the facts, they will renounce the politicians, like Rodney, who rhetorically exploit their sacrifices but remain unwilling to offer the treatment and support they have so tragically earned.
