Michael Muller will run the coordinated campaign

by: Rosi Efthim

Thu Jul 17, 2008 at 01:28:54 PM EDT

Michael Muller, who was campaign director for Hillary Clinton's NJ primary race, will run the NJ coordinated campaign for the 2008 cycle. State Democratic Chair Joe Cryan:

... We have the best candidates, we have the issues on our side and we have a strong Democratic tide fueled by the accumulated failures of George Bush and the Republicans. Hard working and skilled campaign staffers such as Michael will help convert Democratic advantages into Election Day victories.

The coordinated is the election effort of the NJ State Democratic Committee through which resources are channeled to support individual campaigns, provide common resources to candidates and party-build for successive election cycles. With sharply-defined choices in both the Senate and Presidential campaign, national issues are certain to filter into campaigns up and down the ticket.

Muller, who currently manages the communications shop for the Assembly majority office, is a well-known political presence in Trenton. With so many of the state's institutional Dems driving the Clinton efforts until recently, it continues to be interesting to watch how the Clinton and Obama camps - and their supporters - make the effort to unify for November.

the over-under (0.00 / 0)
Whats the over-under on confused quotes in the press from Trish Mueller and Mike Muller from their respective roles with Obama and the Coordinated?

Is Mueller running the Obama campaign in NJ a done deal? (0.00 / 0)
I thought that it had not yet been confirmed.

If this is a done deal, I have to say that as great as Tricia, who I worked with on Jim Florio's 2000 Senate primary campaign against Jon Corzine, is, I think that it is a shame that Steve Rothman's chief-of-staff, Bob Dechiene (sp?) did not get the job, considering the role that Rothman played in being an early and vocal advocate for Barack Obama.

I also think that as Rothman's chief-of-staff, Bob's experience with the organized Jewish community in Bergen County would have given him a greater degree of appreciation for the importance that the statewide Jewish vote will play in New Jersey.

When you consider the fact that Barack Obama's polling advantage over John McCain in New Jersey is only in the high single digits, the difference between getting 76% of the Jewish vote, which is what John Kerry received in 2004 and 61%, which is where Obama is currently polling could put our state in play.

He's running the Coordinated (0.00 / 0)
It's a different job.

Despite the rumor flurry one week ago - denied by Obama's press rep - no NJ State Director has been announced.

Obama has only named State Directors in a handful of states. Nevertheless, it's time to get the NJ show organized behind a staff, and I'm sure Michael Muller is part of that package.

It's not a particularly snappy signature, but here's what I think we need in the next NJ Democratic State Chair.

good to know (0.00 / 0)
I was referring to Tricia Mueller, not Michael Muller per FM's comment.  Does this count as the first confused quote towards FM's over/under?

Let's hope that when the Obama campaign makes their decision, they go with Bob over Tricia for the reasons described above.

This is not to say that Tricia isn't a great person, which she is.  I just feel for the reasons that I have stated above that Bob would be better for this job.

Sorry for the reading typo (0.00 / 0)
You did say Mueller and not Muller. I read it too fast. We might be in for a whole cycle of checking our spelling in posts.

It's not a particularly snappy signature, but here's what I think we need in the next NJ Democratic State Chair.

yet another reason... (0.00 / 0)
...for Obama to hire Bob to run his campaign in NJ.  No name confusion.  Sorry Tricia.
