Andrews hit for running "scam" in CD-1

It's pretty clear that Rob Andrews isn't fooling anyone by having his wife keep his seat warm while he attempts to dislodge Frank Lautenberg.  He's obviously hedging his bets, and appears not to have a great deal of confidence in his ability to knock off Lautenberg.  But his gamesmenship is so transparent that even the national media has started to notice:
12mileseastofTrenton :: Andrews hit for running "scam" in CD-1

There is even some considerable speculation that local Democratic officials may choose Congressman Andrews to replace his wife on the 1st District ballot if - as widely expected - his upstart Senate primary bid falls short. Andrews has repeatedly denied he will re-enter the House race and has stated he is "fully committed" to the Senate campaign. But some Democrats remain skeptical and wary.

"It just seems like such a scam," a Democrat with close knowledge of the state's Democratic congressional delegation told CQ Politics Monday.

"I know he's saying no, he's not going back," said this Democrat of Andrews. "But he also said he was supporting Sen. Lautenberg as well," before he jumped into the Senate primary as Lautenberg's challenger.

The Philadelphia Inquirer ran an editorial Friday urging voters to write-in a 1st District candidate to signal their dissatisfaction with what the paper called "backroom" politics. The editorial faulted Camille Andrews for her participation in the party machinations.

The paper said the 48-year-old Andrews "actually would make an ideal candidate," continuing, "An attorney, she has an impeccable resume as a commercial litigator, investment firm manager, and former associate dean at Rutgers-Camden Law School."

"But her willingness to be in this scam sullies that record," the paper stated in the editorial.

And it certainly doesn't appear that Camille Andrews is running to hard:

Just one week before the primary, Andrews' campaign Web site offered no contact information nor did it list any of Andrews' positions on policy issues. When asked by CQ Politics to outline her positions on a pair of much-discussed issues, Andrews said she believes U.S. troops should be redeployed from Iraq no later than Memorial Day 2009, and offered support for Massachusetts Sen. Edward M. Kennedy 's proposal to overhaul immigration laws, which she summed up as a plan that would allow undocumented people the right to earn their legal status and eventually citizenship.

While Andrews' pre-primary report to the Federal Election Commission showed she raised a rather meager $30,000 in campaign funds as of May 14 . . . .

So, expect the switch to be on.  Once Andrews loses the senate primary, look for him to go back on his word again and take the seat his wife his holding warm for him.

AS momentum slips away.. (0.00 / 0)
The Lautenberg people are feeling the heat and are now going after Andrew's wife and her campaign.

They are doing anything to divert attention from the fact that their guy is losing a point or more each day and has been absent on the campaign trail.

Lautenberg better hope that his wifes tax returns stay secret. They  would hate to see all that money being made on oil stocks revealed.

Lies, lies, and damn lies (0.00 / 0)

Have you lost it?  Are you just making these things up hoping that they're true?

1.  So the "Lautenberg people" now includes the Philadelphia Inquirer?

2.  Do you have any facts to back up your many claims that Lautenberg is running scared, feeling the heat, and is losing a point or more a day?

3.  Which is worse?  Making money on the stock market or subverting democracy.
