Hackensack - We have a problem......

by: carolh

Sun May 25, 2008 at 09:20:51 PM EDT

I got my absentee ballot in the mail this week.  LATE this week and I noticed something VERY wierd.

The absentee ballot has everybody on a DIFFERENT column than we will be on in the VOTING booth.  In the sample ballot for actual Election Day voting, we should all be bracketed in COLUMN 3.  HOWEVER, on the Absentee Ballot - they stuck us in the same column as Cresitello in COLUMN 2.

Not only that, but the County Committee folks aren't even on the same ballot as the rest of the Real Bergen Dems even though we should be bracketed together.  We aren't even on the same piece of PAPER.  It isn't even the same KIND of paper.

So, we can't even tell folks what column we will be in, because it is different depending on whether you vote absentee or not.

Not only that, but if you want to vote for me as freeholder - you fill in the little oval with a #2 pencil, but if you want to vote for me for County Committee, you've got to make an X or a + or checkmark.

Is this messed up, or what?

This happened in Edgewater as well as Tenafly and Bergenfield. Wonder if it happened in Ferriero-crat towns as well...........

This Kind of Structural Electoral Manipulation.... (0.00 / 0)
.....is, sadly, what we've come to expect from the existing power structure.

This is how they hold on to their power and their "right" to legally steal.

We need to build a progressive movement that is so large and so strong that all this blatantly corrupt bullshit is blown away.

Meanwhile, Kudos to courageous candidates like Carol continue to try their best to make the system actually work as, theoretically, it's supposed to.

United we stand...

county-wide (0.00 / 0)
It happened county-wide and in violation of a court order that no candidates appear underneath Cresitello's name (because no one asked to be bracketed with him).  The clerk screwed up.

Is Andrews Column 1 in Bergen... (0.00 / 0)
...on the machines too?

The court case may have had more of an impact than realized.  He is in the first column in Hudson as well.

The County Clerk (0.00 / 0)
stated the paper limits the columns to 3 only so they had to squish everyone into 3 columns.  Still, as our candidate for Clerk Gail Frasco asked - why not print it landscaped?  There is actually one more box below us where they could have put our County Committee candidates with us.

The Real Bergen Dems slogan is microscopic - but at least it identifies us.

Again, they have another excuse.  I don't mind giving Camille a better column than column 6 - which is where she'll be in the booth, but we didn't bracket with any senate candidate on purpose.

One Vote.  Yours.  It really does matter.

Also note that (0.00 / 0)
The ovals are to the LEFT of the candidates name and the check boxes are to the RIGHT. Also  the instructions say only BALLOT - singular - not plural - implying that there is only one piece of paper to send in.

I feel like I am in Florida in 2000...

One Vote.  Yours.  It really does matter.
