Shocking! Shocking!

We've outlined the close connection between Joe Kyrillos and Chris Christie in the past.  Kyrillos is an old family friend of Christie's, and was the NJ GOP chair when Christie and his family donated $94,000 to the party while seeking a position as US Attorney for New Jersey.  Though Christie had been told he was not going to get the job before the donation, Kyrillos went to bat for him after getting almost six figures (and another mid-six figures for the national party) and Christie got the gig despite having absolutely zero criminal or prosecutorial experience.

There's plenty more -- including a TV show that never aired because it was too political and town meetings Kryillos hosted for Christie -- between these two, and now Kyrillos is going overt:

"We don't go out and look to get particular people. Evidence comes into our office. We follow the evidence to where it leads ... and to whomever it leads," Christie said during a video posted on the site, The Inside Clamdigger.

His remarks came Thursday at a Northern Monmouth Chamber of Commerce dinner, where he was introduced by state Senator Joseph Kyrillos, (R-Monmouth), who hinted that Christie would run for governor.

Huh.  Who would have guessed they were laying the groundwork for Christie to run for Governor, misusing the non-partisan, taxpayer-funded position Christie holds.

Really, who would have suspected it.

Update: It's worse than I thought.  Here's the video.

There are no stupid questions (4.00 / 1)

Or so the fortune cookies say.

So, here are a few:

Does Christie actually prosecute these cases?

You know - gather the evidence, line up the witnesses, make an opening statement, enter evidence, direct and cross-examine witness and provide a closing statement.

I suspect its a career attorney, somewhat afraid of losing his/her job.  But I dunno.

So, why isn't the FBI tooting its own horn about the investigations.  I paraphrase - "Evidence comes to us."  Where does that evidence come from?  And is it Christie who makes the decisions on what evidence is is deemed worthy to prosecute.

So many BJ's have discussed what seem to be criminal activites throughout the state.  At least they should be looked at.  Where is the FBI?  Where is Christie?  Where are our newspapers?

huntsu, you have fought a lonely and principled fight.  Of course you are supported by BJ.

But I would like to see a wider venue.  I can't do much with the Star Ledger or the Record, but I promise to have either Op-eds or letters to my local rags on all poitics - including Christie.

Thanks for doing a good job, huntsu.

Uhm (4.00 / 1)
i am the last person to defend Sharpe James or his and his partners actions in this case, and i am also the last person to accuse someone of even subtle racism.

But does anyone else feel queasy as he tells the crowd at the Northern Monmouth Chamber of Commerce luncheon about how obvious that no one from 'federally subsidized housing' in Jersey City could possibly be qualified to be a land owner or developer?

Excellent, Huntsu! (4.00 / 1)
But, keep on digging and like they say on TV ... Wait, there's more!

Smoke is getting heavier!

128-0 and you're still complaining (0.00 / 0)
With 128 convicted public corruption peddlers under his belt, you would think New Jersey's Living Legend, Christopher Christie, would have earned your respect by now.

Sen. Kyrillos made a great introduction on this video, one that I could have delivered myself.

No complaints about the good work! (4.00 / 2)
I even applaud much of it, and it was sorely needed in a time when our own Attorney General lacked "exuberance" for such crime fighting. Now, however, we do have a more proactive AG.

It is his hypocrisy, his highly partisan actions and success in an administration that IS all about partisan politics that IS open to criticism.

The $52 million no bid contract at taxpayer expense to his old boss, just that one action probably exceeds the cost to taxpayers represented by the people in his 128 convictions cast the taxpayers!

Hypocrisy!  ... and I think there is more coming ... just maybe look in Monmouth and/or Ocean County!

Holier than thou? We shall see!

And you are still obtuse ... (4.00 / 1)
I can say this a billion times and it won't matter to you: I am happy about the convictions, and hope they continue.

But that doesn't blind us to the fact that he bought the job, uses the pulpit we pay for to promote partisan political ends, and has given out questionable no-bid contracts.

Elliot Spitzer had a similar good record against corruption in government and Wall Street.  Should we ignore his prostitution use?

Rudy Giuliani was a tough guy US Attorney also who put many public entity criminals in jail.  Should we ignore that he used public funds and police officers to ferry his mistress (now wife) to her vacation home?

That fact that a guy is doing his job doesn't mean he isn't doing other things wrong.

You are blind to that simple fact, even with all the examples of other "Living Legends" who were a lot less than the myth.
