Tom Wyka :: Tom explains money in politics

Corporate Special Interests (4.00 / 2)
sink millions into political campaigns to get legislation in place that enhances their bottom line at our expense.
Anyone who works for a living should be contributing to all the Tom Wykas running for office. Better yet, the working class should be out in the streets working for candidates like Tom Wyka to take the government back from the greedy corporate special interests, and restore it to those for whom it was originally intended, the American people.

Restore democracy and the Constitution for which it stands.

Rodney the "Money Changer" Needs to Be Thrown Out of Washington (4.00 / 1)
Legalized bribery remains the "name of the game" in politics. The problem for the corrupt interests is that people are catching on.

When the people of the 11th CD "catch on" to who Tom Wyka is and what he stands for they'll vote for him in large numbers.

The "conventional wisdom" is pure bullshit.  This is not a "safe" Republican district.   That's only true is we believe it's true; if we allow it to be true.

A million bucks isn't a lot of money these days.

When Tom Wyka has that (relatively) small sum raised, he will be able to get his message out; and that message trumps all of Rodney's money.

The waste, stupidity, fraud, and sheer unmitigated corruption of the Bush administration has awoken a new potential in American.

This is a time when old patterns can be broken.

We have a choice.  Do we throw some money Tom's way and enable a truly radical change to be catalyzed; or do we sit back and passively accept the "conventional wisdom".

If Linda Stender had another couple of hundred grand to get her message out in 2006; she would have won then....it was that close.

2008 is such a moment in the 11th, only we've had the perverse "benefit" of two more years of Rodney enabling the Bush administration as additional evidence of his unworthiness for public office.

Please dig deep into your wallets and contriibute to Tom Wyka's victory!   If you believe; he can win!

If we believe WE can win!!!

Well said, Tom! (4.00 / 2)
I agree with the previous posts.

Tom and others like him need to be in Washington speaking for US, not corporate special interests!

C'mon NJ-11 - the way I see it we have an opportunity to do some gift giving.  Let's give Rodney the gift of more quality time with his family in 2009, and let's give Tom (and America) the gift of creating the vision he described in this video.

Until Tom (2.00 / 1)
Actively lobbies his own party in Trenton to pass pay to play/wheeling bans (that we've been promised for like 4 years now), I have to take his sincere appeal with a grain of salt. It's easy to target the big campaign chests when you don't have one. It's quite another to take that same spotlight and shine it on your own party right here at home.

Go to my website ... (3.80 / 5)
...  it's been no secret to anyone who's familiar with my views that I am a big proponent of clean elections across the board.  I'm also disappointed in the resistance of some NJ Dem leaders on this issue - though I can agree with them on any number of other issues.

Anyway - enjoy your salt  ;-)

I'm glad you replied... (4.00 / 1)
All I'm looking for is an acknowledgement that our predicament here in NJ is no better. And I do hope if elected you can exert soem pressure on our local guys (Dem or R, I don't care) to do the right thing.

Will - There's been some numbers... (4.00 / 2)
...kicked around at the national level that cost-justifies clean elections (public expense vs. "cost of corruption").  So far no one to my knowledge has done a study on the same, at our state level.  Please send a note to me through my website if you ever see something like that, or have already read anything in that regard.

Thanks!

I Guarantee You That a Congressman Wyka... (4.00 / 1)
...will have far more lobbying clout than candidate Wyka.

Let's all help get Tom elected!

I can assure you he'll be sponsoring/co-sponsoring all manner of clean elections bills.

-1 Tom wants a job in DC, not Trenton. (0.00 / 0)
Actively lobbies his own party in Trenton to pass pay to play/wheeling bans...

That becomes a full time job unto itself. Making a run for congress moot.

I believe (4.00 / 2)
I believe.  I also think that everyone who is on this site reading this or watching this video believes.

It is simply not enough, however, to believe from behind a computer screen.  If we want to see these changes made, we must get out and do the work needed.  http://www.tomwyka.com/volunte...

Let's all work together to take this belief and turn it into results.

This Can Be A Voting Issue in NJ (0.00 / 0)
There is a widespread gut level dissatisfaction/disgust with the status quo.

For most people it's just below the surface.  It manifests in a kind of generalized pessimism and apathy whenever the subject of local/state government comes up.

The recent revelations http://www.bluejersey.com/show...
surrounding Rodney's earmarks are a case in point.

When the voters understand that this problem is not something that is "written in stone" and that it can be solved and they understand/believe that Tom Wyka's election to congress is part of the solution he can win.

When we all put our time/money where our highest hopes/values are, Tom Wyka and the rest of the Democratic challengers throughout NJ can/will win.
