Sabrin: No Citizenship by Ceremony for Babies

by: Thurman Hart

Mon May 05, 2008 at 12:42:21 PM EDT

Murray Sabrin has a bug up his butt - and it's about all those people who perform citizenship ceremonies on babies before the kid is old enough to give consent.

From Sabrin's press release, Sabrin's five-point plan to end the immigration crisis includes:

3. End birth-rite citizenship

A rite is defined as:

a formal or ceremonial act or procedure prescribed or customary in religious or other solemn use

I must agree.  Babies should not be subjected to a citizenship rite.  As has been the case for over two hundred years, they should be granted citizenship because they were born in this country.  That is their - and our - birthRIGHT.

How funny is it to put out a press release castigating immigrants for not using English that refers to your candidate as foreign-born and misuses the language?  The only thing that would make it funnier would be if it were released on some kind of holiday in Mexico or something...

Really, folks, we couldn't make this up.

Ring the jar (4.00 / 1)
if you think citizenship ceremonies should not be performed on newborns.

Hay muchas personas (4.00 / 1)
...en los estados unidos quien hablan mas que solo una lingua.

Inclusivo Jay Lassiter.

Oh, the insults I could hurl. (0.00 / 0)
I mean, "birth-rite"? Is this like a christian thing, the Masons, O.T.O or something even more sinister like The Cheesebilderburgers?

If, by some slim bit of fate, he means "birth-right", then how does one qualify for citizenship if not by birthright? Obstacle course run? "Peter Piper" said fast ten times? A set of tests administered by the same people who administer the Microsoft Professional Certification tests(OH GOD NOOOOoooo!!!)? Hanging out with the cool kids in high school? Surviving a briss without anesthesia at the age of 21?

If you flunk, then what? Soylent Green? Permanent sub-human status? Noogies? Life as a eunuch?

Something tells me that:

1. This idea needs a lot of fleshing out.

2. Somebody may have let a frothing Paulbot get a little too close to a computer with an Internet connection.

3. Someone over at Sabrin Sentral is a moron, who understands no-farging-thing about the Constitution.

The nom de plume has a long and distinguished history.

Bankground Checks (0.00 / 0)
Here's point 5 of Sabrin's release:

5. For those illegal immigrants who want to live, work and pay taxes (but not be granted citizenship) they must pay a financial penalty and go through a thorough bankground check to become a legal resident.

What the hell is a bankground check?  Do we rub soil from the local savings and loan on them?
