He's funny

The latest Bergen County nuttiness.  Here is an article from the Record for today. Teaneck councilman Adam Gussen is challenging a sitting County Committee member and is demanding quite petulantly that Loretta give him priority.

http://www.northjersey.com/pol...

"We will not cower to her political will," Adam Gussen, a Teaneck councilman and county committee challenger, said in published statement about Weinberg. "We will never back down from our desire to participate."

Now THAT is funny.  Do you have any idea how many people across NJ who have been encouraged to get involved in County Committee by Senator Weinberg herself?  At LEAST Hundreds.  Senator Weinberg encouraged me and at the time, I was just an ordinary resident of Bergen County.  This attempt to paint Senator Weinberg as anti-semitic is ridiculous as well as fishy.  The slate that just magically appeared to challenge what should be non-partisan councilmembers in Teaneck has been assembled- rumor has it - by Joe Ferriero's friends.  Loretta does not "blackball" people.  She does care about her constituents - all of them - and tries always to do right by them.  She has supported us in 2006 when Joe Ferriero unfairly threw us off the line as INCUMBENTS simply for voting for her.  We did not petulantly DEMAND her help.  She was gracious enough to help us deal with a tiny tyrant named Joe Ferriero.

There's room in the pool for everyone, Adam.  Loretta always says so.  Just make sure Joe Ferriero isn't lurking just below the surface like an alligator.  He does bite.

He got the line and he is still complaining! (4.00 / 2)
That really takes the cake!!

This is What Bossism Looks Like.... (0.00 / 0)
Quoting from the same article...  http://www.northjersey.com/pol...

This year, Ferriero gave the coveted party line to most incumbent county committee members, except in three towns where members have shown loyalty to Weinberg.

In those towns - Englewood, Bergenfield and Teaneck - the county organization has given the party line on the ballot to a slate of challengers. Gussen is on that challenger slate in Teaneck.

"The rules should apply to everybody or to nobody," Weinberg said Tuesday. "I have a problem with the county leader throwing off people who have worked hard for the Democratic Party."

Bill Maer, a spokesman for the Bergen County Democrats, declined to say how Ferriero decided who would get the party line.

"The chairman picks who he feels would be the best individuals to represent the Bergen Democratic Organization," Maer said. "That is his criteria."

Need I say more?

Sounds like (0.00 / 0)
Gussen REALLY represents the Joe Ferriero wing of the Bergen Democratic Party.  (Sigh......)  Always the victim.

He may be naive and that may be a problem for him later.  After all Michael Wildes used to pride himself on being independent of Ferriero.  UNTIL Ferriero gave him the line.

In 2006, I ran for Council AND County Committee.  Joe Ferriero threw me off the BCDO line for County Committee but did NOT throw me off the line for Council.  So I was in two different columns.  Was I good enough to run the Borough but NOT good enough to vote a few times a year on County Committee?  No.  It is just that Joe derives ALL his power from the County Committee - who re-elect him.  His attempts to disenfranchise those of us who supported Weinberg for election (who consistently wins over 70% of the vote in the general election)  tend to make us not want to re-elect the guy. He rules by fear - but he fears us.  And so he gives the line to guys like Gussen, who can't seem to understand why we won't pipe down when good folks get kicked to the curb so he can have the line.

One Vote.  Yours.  It really does matter.
