Real Bergen Dems launch Primary Fight

by: carolh

Tue Apr 08, 2008 at 11:46:41 AM EDT

Well, It's official.  We filed and here is today's paper:

http://www.northjersey.com/new...

According to the Ferriero-crats who need to retain their hold on Bergen County's government to retain their hold on power, they assume that this is all about District 37 and power grabs.

We don't think so.  We are running candidates from several districts:

Carol Hoernlein from Tenafly DISTRICT 37
Carol Skiba from Hasbrouck Heights DISTRICT 38
Gail Frasco from Westwood DISTRICT 39

Our aim is nothing short of representative democracy.  We want our government to be responsive to the people - the voters, the residents, the citizens of Bergen County. We want to free County Government from the whims of one man who has put a stranglehold on our County and who has systematically tried to control each of our Municipalities by his use and abuse of Pay-To-Play.

This Primary is different.  We will let the voters decide.  Not Joe Ferriero.

In order to retain his hold on power, Joe Ferriero must retain his hold on the County and its Government.  We have a real opportunity here to reform the way things are done in Bergen County.

To help in our efforts to reform County Government and Party Politics, you can contribute to our Primary campaign at:

Real Bergen Democrats
P.O. Box 1764
Englewood Cliffs, NJ 07632

No contribution is too small  :)

Hey (0.00 / 0)
Alright.  Carol Skiba.  Isn't she friends with Steve Lonegan?

Aren't you (0.00 / 0)
friends with Joe Ferriero?

One Vote.  Yours.  It really does matter.

You are asking me if I support the Democratic chair?  Yes I do.  I ask you why you are running with a Republican.  Carol Skiba ran for Assembly on a slate with Steve Lonegan.  What makes you think that it is a good thing to have her on your ticket?  You find yourself sandwiched between a Larouchey and a Loneganite.

Why are either of you going to be good freeholders?  Because you are not friends with Joe Ferriero?  Not good enough.  Especially considering you take your orders from another Boss.

Loretta is a Boss.  She makes threats to public officials who do not do what she wants and she uses her muscle and her Norcross friends to push people around.

Running on this "We don't like Ferriero" ticket will get you one thing.  Beaten.  Then sadly, if you and your merry band of larouchies gain some traction in your campaign, you may actually help elect republicans.

And all of this because of a personal vendetta and a quest for power on behalf of Loretta.

Put away the orange hat.

Hello leg store?  Yes, my friend carol needs something to stand on.

What a Pack of Lies, Distortions and Bile (0.00 / 0)
You are asking me if I support the Democratic chair?  Yes I do.

Ahhh, but not just any chair.   You support Boss Joe Ferriero....who has a well deserved and well documented reputation for being at the head of a legalized bribery syndicate that abuses the taxpayers of Bergen County by masquerading as Democrats.

I ask you why you are running with a Republican.  Carol Skiba ran for Assembly on a slate with Steve Lonegan.

Ms Skiba changed her party affiliation.  Do you have a problem with that?

Ms Skiba has a reputation for demanding reform and honesty in government.  Do you have a problem with that?

What makes you think that it is a good thing to have her on your ticket?

She would be a better Freeholder than the Ferriero flunky she would be replacing.  I'd say that's a pretty good reason.

You find yourself sandwiched between a Larouchey and a Loneganite.

Now that's just as wild a stretch as trying to imply that Barack Obama is an "Islamofascist" because his pastor once used a few strong words at the pulpit and gave Farrakhan an award and his middle name is "Hussein".     This guilt by association swiftboating shit is just that, shit...and you should really cut it out.

Why are either of you going to be good freeholders?

Because they will save the taxpayers lots of money by getting more things done well for less money.    The pay to play legalized corruption tax is wayyy to high.   You got a problem with that?

Because you are not friends with Joe Ferriero?  Not good enough.

Actually, I think it's plenty good.   And I dare say the voters may not feel as much love and affection for Boss Joe as you do.

Especially considering you take your orders from another Boss.

Actually, Carol is an a feisty independent type and doesn't take "orders" from anyone....you don't know her at all do you?  :-)

Loretta is a Boss.

Wrong. Loretta is a leader.   She leads on the basis of upstanding values and common human decency.

She makes threats to public officials who do not do what she wants and she uses her muscle and her Norcross friends to push people around.

Loretta is a politician who exercises her prerogatives in ways that benefit the people she is elected to serve.   If she has to make an alliance here and there to achieve that.....that's politics; and if she has to "threaten" a public official that isn't doing their job well...then that's fine with me.    If you got a problem with that; then bring up some specific cases and we'll talk.

Running on this "We don't like Ferriero" ticket will get you one thing.  Beaten.

Actually, I really want to see the Ferrriero flunkies run on the basis of how much they love Boss Joe.  I doubt they'll want to remind the voters that they are pawns on Boss Joe's chessboard.   If and when the voters ever fully understand what the BCDO has become under the regime of Boss Joe NO ONE would vote for anyone associated with him other than those who are directly financially benefitting from the arrangement.

Then sadly, if you and your merry band of larouchies gain some traction in your campaign, you may actually help elect republicans.

Wrong, if they "get traction" they win....and real Democrats get elected in November.

And all of this because of a personal vendetta and a quest for power on behalf of Loretta.

That's pure bullshit.   Back it up with facts if you can, and maybe we can have a discussion.

Put away the orange hat.

I don't know what you're referring to there....so I'll just assume it's a silly ad hominem.

Hello leg store?  Yes, my friend carol needs something to stand on.

More asinine ad hominem foolishness.

Look, if you want to support Boss Joe; that's fine.  It's your right.   But don't kid yourself about who he is and what he stands for.

Pay to play is legalized corruption and legalized bribery.

Weinberg and company have proposed changing the laws to make how Joe Ferriero operated illegal.   I say that's a good thing.

Why don't you???

Carol Skiba (4.00 / 1)
was a Democrat when FOJ (Friends of Joe) convinced a Republican to run and then switch to be a Ferriero-crat Democrat after the voters elected her on a Republican platform. You think THAT is OK?  You only like Republicans who flip for Joe?

Carol has earned the love and respect of reform minded voters in Hasbrouck Heights and has earned my admiration and respect.  I am honored to be sharing the ticket with Carol Skiba.  Unlike you Ferriero-crats, I stand by my running mates because I believe in them.  You guys eat your wounded and scatter when the light come on.  You remind me of those spider things in the Lost in Space movie.

One Vote.  Yours.  It really does matter.
