'Tis true. I just received the call about both Rob and Camille signatures.

Bait & Switch? (4.00 / 3)
Once Rob loses the Senate primary and she wins here, I'd bet she withdraws from the race so the party can give the nomination back to him.

or (1.00 / 1)
he has petitions to run as an independent and after losing the primary she withdraws and he keeps his house seat - he has a few options hear to keep his house seat....seems tricky and dishonesy

the filing deadline is on the same day in NJ - i dont know what the law is

Filing Deadline (4.00 / 2)
The filing deadline for independent candidates to secure a place on the general election ballot is 4pm on June 3rd, the date of the partisan primaries.

No person running in a partisan primary will know the results of that election prior to the deadline for filing as an independent candidate.

madness (4.00 / 1)
This is ridiculous, if true. Is Andrews all in? This certainly suggests otherwise. And even if he does win the Senate nomination, does his wife stay on the ballot? How democratic and Democratic would it be for a husband and wife to be a senator and congresswoman?

You can't make this stuff up. Career congressman decides late in the game to challenge the veteran incumbent senator with the backing of the Machine. Machine makes the switch late in the game so a non-Machine candidate doesn't have time to collect enough signatures or get organized in enough time to meet the filing deadline. Machine then puts the wife of the career congressman on the ballot in case the career congressman doesn't win the primary.

Machine politics at its worse.

what's wrong with hedging your bets? (4.00 / 1)
or is it another McGreeveyesque move?  using your wife for your own ambitions: if you lose the primary, tell the wife to take a hike ... off the ballot.

She's keeping his "seat" warm? n/t (0.00 / 0)
