I'm for Frank

Although by no means perfect, Frank Lautenberg has had a reliable progressive voting record during his four terms in the senate.  Plus, he's been a strong candidate.  Milicent Fenwick was no slouch.  Nor was Pete Dawkins.  And in the best Republican year in memory, 1994, Lautenberg was able to win re-election.  When the party was scrambling for a candidate in 2002, Frank was there and came to the rescue.  How can we dump him overboard after all that?

Especially since his opponent would be a putrid substitute.  Andrews has a DLC voting record, and has supported trade agreements and other pro-corporate legislation that has hurt workers an consumers.  Plus, he voted for the Iraq War.  And only someone who does what's in his best interests, rather than the party's, would divide the party needlessly by challenging Lautenberg.

This race reminds of the Akaka-Case primary battle in Hawaii last year.  The DLC congressmand, Case, was defeated.  Let's hope the same thing happens in June.

I urge every Democrat to support and vote for Lautenberg.  He's been there for us, now it's our turn to be there for him.
