Lautenberg is Outstanding

by: vingopal

Fri Mar 28, 2008 at 04:54:26 PM EDT

There has been no ally stronger to NJ progressives than Senator Frank Lautenberg. From his clear and strong opposition to the war in Iraq, to his strong support of protecting civil liberties and his steadfast support for protecting the environment, NJ progressives don't have a stronger supporter than Senator Frank Lautenberg.
vingopal :: Lautenberg is Outstanding
THE LAUTENBERG RECORD:

Voted NO on recommending Constitutional ban on flag desecration. (Jun 2006)

Rated 100% by the HRC, indicating a pro-gay-rights stance. (Dec 2006)

Rated 100% by the NAACP, indicating a pro-affirmative-action stance. (Dec 2006)

Voted YES on reducing oil usage by 40% by 2025 (instead of 5%). (Jun 2005)

Voted YES on banning drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. (Mar 2005)

Voted NO on Bush Administration Energy Policy. (Jul 2003)

Voted NO on extending the PATRIOT Act's wiretap provision. (Dec 2005)

Protect overtime pay protections. (Jun 2003)

Rated 100% by the AFL-CIO, indicating a pro-union voting record. (Dec 2003)

Rated 100% by the AU, indicating support of church-state separation. (Dec 2006)

Voted NO on $86 billion for military operations in Iraq & Afghanistan. (Oct 2003)

Voted YES on redeploying US troops out of Iraq by March 2008. (Mar 2007)

Voted YES on redeploying troops out of Iraq by July 2007. (Jun 2006)

Voted YES on investigating contract awards in Iraq & Afghanistan. (Nov 2005)

Mayor Cresitello, Chairman Byrne and any member of the NJ congressional delegation would be ill-advised to think that local and national progressive organizations would abandon Frank Lautenberg.

Lets hope that any primary opponent has a stronger argument against Lautenberg than that he is 'old' when his vision and foresight for NJ has been clearer than the majority of his fellow Democratic officeholders.

I completely agree with Vin.  His record on issues we care about from environmental protection to being against the war in Iraq to support for health care for all Americans is very strong.  Cresitello and Byrne if he runs need to make the case why Lautenberg doesnt deserve re-election.
