Progressive Caucus Meeting (0.00 / 0)
Bert-
first of all i think there are too many issues listed, while i certainly agree that we should take a policy position as progressives on all of them, how about picking 3-5 and then having all the progressive groups in the state focus on those issues?  In Morris County DFA/PDA we picked three issues that we will be focusing on this year: the war in iraq, campaign and election reform, and workers rights/wage issues.  I just think having too many issues dilutes our message
Also rather than focusing simply on issues, i think we need to talk more about how all the progressive groups in the state can work together to achieve far more.  I would like to see groups like DFA and PDA work increasingly with NAACP, NJ NOW, Gay PASG, Garden State Equality, and local unions.  We need to get more statewide media coverage, and local media coverage and need to reach out to far more people.
On a personal note, i like your platform listed on www.njfordemocracy.org and many of us in Morris County will vote for you for one of the 7 leadership positions in DFA: we appreciate your support for more networking with other organizations and the need for us to be more of a "working union" as DFA rather than a "loose confederation of DFA groups".  I disagree with your support for DFA being a non partisan organization, because i feel supporting any Republican is dangerous at this point, but i have no doubt the other members on the 6 member committee will stop that from happening.  You should be commended however, for your recognition of the need to build more coalitions, build membership, and have more communication with statewide leaders
