New Jersey's hotly contested Primary just got Hotter

by: Jay Lassiter

Mon Jan 28, 2008 at 10:16:12 PM EST

In a week and a day it'll all be over and we can get on with it.  But until then, there's still primary to be won here in New Jersey.

Since we do not have a winner-take-all system here in the Garden State,  there will be spoils for the second (and possibly third) place finish in next Tuesday's election.

In other words, it's anyone's ballgame.

i end every vlog i do with the www.bluejersey.com tagline.  and since at least two (?) members of the frontpage team are all edwards all the time it would only be demi-accurate to say that bluejersey endorses anyone or the  other.

I supported John Edwards, but I was very impressed with Edison Mayor Jun Choi's representation of Obama.  If John does not win the nomination (almost a certainty I know), I was really split on who I would go for.  But after hearing from Mayor Choi and some other things recently, I am 100% for Obama if John drops out.

Look for me in the Star Ledger tomorrow.  I asked a question from the audience podium and a bunch of people took my picture and the Star Ledger photographer took down my name and information.  I'm a redhead so it shouldn't be that hard to figure it out.  Plus my username here is my first initial and last name, so there's a clue!

That's what we love (4.00 / 2)
about Loretta.  She is not afraid to buck the establishment.  When Hillary courted Joe Ferriero last year and the party bosses who had traditionally treated the women of NJ terribly and tried their damndest to keep women OUT of the State Legislature tried again, Hillary was silent.

She did NOT stand up for the women of NJ, and so the women of NJ - especially in the State Legislature are NOT falling in line behind Hillary.

I respect Senator Weinberg's backing of Obama, and Obama is actually my second choice.  But I think folks should look closely at exactly WHY most of the powerhouse women of NJ in politics are NOT supporting the woman candidate in this race.

The fact that the male political establishment in NJ is backing the woman candidate does not erase the misogyny of the past - up to and including the race of November 2007.  Hillary IS the establishment. The women of NJ are looking for something better.

Best of luck to all the NJ Obama girls :) including my State Senator!

One Vote.  Yours.  It really does matter.
