New Registered Voters Choose Democrats over Republicans 20:1

by: Juan Melli

Fri Jan 25, 2008 at 06:49:36 PM EST

New Jersey has about 48,000 more voters today than it had just two months ago. That's a 1% increase which brings the total number of registered voters to about 4.8 million.

The vast majority of those new voters - about 42,000 (88%) chose not to affiliate with any party. Most New Jersey voters (~60%) are already unaffiliated.

Among those who did choose a political affiliation, 95.4% (6140 voters) affiliated with the Democratic party while 4.6% (295 voters) chose the Republican party. That's a stunning 20:1 ratio. It's clear where the excitement is this year.

Dinner tonight w/ a REPUBLICAN (0.00 / 0)
Hey Juan. Had dinner tonight with my lady and her college buds. 3 women and 2 men at a nice restuarant shootin the breeze eating overpriced food. I strike up politics as the ladies talked about Paris Hilton and Britney. Then, low and behold I am sitting across from republican. Funny thing is even he (like most republicans these days) wished he had not voted for bush for BOTH terms. The republicans screwed up this country because they supported a guy who dodged a war when he himself was too chicken to fight, got into an IVY league school by sheer miracle, and was elected leader of our nation because his daddy was the former president. Go figure? People need to pick a candidate who is inspiring, intelligent, & as UNLIKE Bush as he possibly can be! Obama for 08'
