Oh crap - is it Saturday morning already?

Here's what's on my mind this morning, as I head to the doctor's, sick as a dog.

We just swore in the most new members to the legislature since 1974, and we have I think a 23-17 majority in the Senate and 48 - 32 the Assembly.

Not too shabby.

We just swore in the most women in the state legislature, in NJ history. And we went from 34th in the nation in elected women, to 15th in the nation, in 2008.

Not too shabby.

But I'm aiming this year to help excise one of those women - Asw Linda Stender - and buff up our Congressional Delegation's appalling all-male conclave, by sending the lady to Congress to represent me.

Because, like everyone else in NJ-7, I am due for sensible representation.

Funny, this fervor to send a woman to Washington doesn't extend to my choice of presidential primary candidates. Despite lobbying from good friends, Hillary Clinton feels less to me like a woman candidate I should respond to with enthusiasm, and more like the woman whose first task as nominee would be to dismantle 50-State Strategy, and every other good thing Howard Dean promised and delivered. Feminism isn't choosing the woman candidate, it's making the best choice you can, without the restriction of considering sex.

I'll support the nominee, no matter who she or he is, but I take my primary seriously. And I choose Edwards.

It's not a particularly snappy signature, but here's what I think we need in the next NJ Democratic State Chair.
