And Now For The Bishops ... (4.00 / 1)
The Pope appears to have figured out that this is a big deal, but the bishops and priests who attacked John Kerry and Jim McGreevey for being pro-choice are silent.

Every pulpit this weekend should be shouting this accomplishment from the rooftops, but they won't.

And every "pro-life" group out there should be promoting Democrats and slamming Republicans.

But they won't because these attacks in the past have been partisan more than moral.

i think this isssue has brought together some very bizarre bedfellows.  make no mistake, anything less would have meant failure.

In short, "we" could have never done this without "them."  personally, i have never felt less partisan.

still there is a strong likelihood huntsu is right and i am just high on the ambrosia of victory.

Here is a link to a statement from the NJ Bishops (0.00 / 0)

Not as strong as many including myself would like, but a statement nonetheless.

Not only not strong ... (0.00 / 0)
But mealy mouthed.

Bishop John M. Smith of Trenton, N.J., said Dec. 14 he was pleased New Jersey legislators voted to abolish the death penalty, but said he would not have a "triumphalist attitude about it" because capital punishment is such a sensitive issue.

Since when do the bishops shut up about sensitive issues?  Gay marriage -- we hear 'em.  Abortion -- we hear 'em.  But on the death penalty -- they don't want to ruffle any feathers.

Well, Jesus was a feather ruffler, bubs, and this is a great day.  But on Sunday, don't expect to hear about it much.

It's cool to be from new jersey (0.00 / 0)
today more than ever.  who knew that my jersey pedigree would be such a point of admiration.

it's hard to explain the feeling, so you just have to wait for the vlog.
