Elizabeth Edwards in New Jersey

A fund-raiser at a (magnificent) private home in Princeton last night - featuring Elizabeth Edwards - drew an impressive crowd of supporters, and raised more than $50,000 nearly $60,000 to support her husband's campaign.

I was fortunate enough to attend, and I spoke with Mrs. Edwards upon her arrival. She looked great, and has a wonderful warm and casual manner that made me instantly comfortable and at ease.

After a short conversation, I told her someone would be contacting her about this thing called "Blue Jersey Radio" - and she said, without hesitation: "I'll say yes" (smile). In this year of the remarkable potential first-spouses, Elizabeth is a real asset to the campaign. We'll definitely be in touch. Stay tuned.

I did have to leave early, because - like the Governor - I had to get to Piscataway for the RU Women's basketball game. For some more detail, and another photo with a very special guest last night, click on over.

Having dashed to the RAC for the RU game, I had to get the full report from co-host/organizer John Bartlett:
Elizabeth stood and answered questions for more than an hour, on subjects ranging from the Democratic candidates' health care plans and education agendas to her thoughts on some of the Republicans Edwards might face in the fall if he earns the Democratic nomination.

Among the notable guests, was the still-uncommitted Rep. Rush Holt, in whose District the event was held. But, after an evening with Elizabeth - who knows?

Good stuff all the way around (4.00 / 3)
After getting an endorsement from Iowa representative Baley this week, Edwards would receive a nice boost if someone as prestigious and intelligent as Rep. Holt endorsed the campaign.

Elizabeth Edwards is indeed an asset to the campaign and can communicate Edwards' vision on multiple issues when she is sent out as a surrogate to the campaign. And anytime that we get presidential contenders or their spouses in the state directly listening to state voters and their interests is a good thing.

Elizabeth is awesome (4.00 / 5)
I hosted a last-minute fundraiser in August at my significantly-less-than-magnificent home and she was as gracious as if I were hosting it in a mansion.  That JRE is married to her shows him a man who knows goodness when he sees it.

Cheers to Elixabeth! And to Rutgers Women's Basketball! (4.00 / 2)
Two great victories for New Jersey last night!!

I Had The Good Fortune To... (0.00 / 0)
...hear Elizabeth Edwards speak at a book signing in Ridewood a few months ago.

She has to be one of the smartest, most charming, courageous and warmhearted people on Earth!

She would make a spectacular First Lady!!!

and an even better President (0.00 / 1)
Better than her husband at the very least.
