Great Video Post Jay (4.00 / 1)
Thanks for going, covering this and helping out.  You always provide a good perspective of the issues that don't make it into the spotlight, but need to be addressed.

Thank you for covering this, Jay (4.00 / 1)
My dad runs a local  food pantry and he is really worried about how they will get through this month.  It is the first time that they will only be able to give out one bag of groceries to each family in the month of December.  The state gives them some money, but they rely mostly on donations.

If you can at all spare some non-perishable goods for the food pantries near you, please do, it is critical this year.  Also - for anyone donating - please check the expiration dates on any items.  My dad says they wind up tossing out a good many items due to being past their dates.

It will be a very hard month for the soup kitchens and food pantries in NJ this winter.  Please help them in any way you can.

One Vote.  Yours.  It really does matter.

Nice Food Operation In Trenton... (4.00 / 1)
...I hope the shelter situation is as good!

I know that the homeless shelter for Bergen County is woefully inadequate on all levels.

It's a disgraceful dirty rotten shame that in one of the richest counties in the nation we have homeless people on the streets.

The cops do their "best" to make the homeless invisible by harassing them; but that's no answer.

I bet that the BCDO could probably feed and house all of Bergen's homeless out of it's own deep pockets if it chose to.

Meanwhile it's getting very cold out, especially at night.  Imagine what it feels like; being on the street with nowhere to go or to sleep.

Kudos to the Guv for shedding a bit of light on these issues today.

Thanks Jay (4.00 / 1)
Your video blogs are always so interesting and unique. You make all the hard work that goes into producing them seem so effortless. Keep up the great work!

;)

Oh, and thanks Marie Wade (0.00 / 0)
Sometimes, the simplest observations are the wisest:

What's outrageous (4.00 / 1)
is that we depend upon private charity - unreliable contributions to food pantries -  to alleviate hunger in America. Of all our social problems, that is the one we can most conveniently solve through the  expansion of existing  government programs  It's  also good for local economy when people can purchase their own food with debit cards. & good for their dignity.
