The Big Story
  • Vote.
Take your next door neighbor with you. Offer a ride to that lady across the street who doesn't walk very well anymore. Ask that guy at work who always complains about the conservative pundits if he voted before work or is going after. Remind people that voting is the most important thing we do in a democracy. Don't let something so silly as rain make a difference. Get out the vote!
  • Regardless of how the votes go, there will be a lot of new faces in the legislature in the next term.
  • Big names weigh in on the debate over the stem cell Ballot Question.

Thank you for reminding people to vote (0.00 / 0)
It really does not matter *how* people vote but that they do.  Both parties keep detailed records of who votes and breaks down by every demographic including age, neighborhood, gender, etc...

Ever wonder why they laugh at young 20-somethings with concerns but will embrace the issues of seniors?  It is because both parties know who they need to pander to get their votes.

Please for your own future, make sure your name is counted as those who participate in the system.  And please don't ask your elderly neighbor how they will vote, even if there is a red, blue, or purple sign on their lawn.  Graciously drive them to the polls.  It is our civic duty to help everyone take part in the democratic process.

Thanks again for providing coverage and reminding people to make their voices heard.

Voting, stem cell research (0.00 / 0)
One wonders whether the rain will further decrease voter turn-out this year; the solution for many of us is, of course, the absentee ballot.

What other questions about stem cell funding's legitimacy will the right throw at us? Will it be that government shouldn't invest in private medical research? (actually, government usually stimulates research in such fields). Will it be that embryos are living beings (they are, but they can't become human beings, and they offer the potential for saving lives, which outweighs such hypothetical anti-stances). Will it be that the state is already in the red in terms of debt? (We are, but the initiative would, combined with other stem cell funding in the state, stand to bring in 2.2 billion dollars in jobs and other revenues).

The Solid Democratic South emerges tonight!
