Clinton Top 3Q Fundraising in NJ

by: Juan Melli

Tue Oct 16, 2007 at 03:02:22 PM EDT

Below are the 3Q fundraising totals that each presidential candidate raised in NJ. Clinton blew everyone else away, beating NJ GOP darling Rudy Giuliani by a quarter million dollars. She raised three times more than her nearest Democratic rival Barack Obama. Surprisingly, Edwards comes in fourth with about $100,000, behind Bill Richardson with $125,000.

The fundraising totals for the Democrats closely follow the polls in state. The latest Quinnipiac poll showed Clinton leading with 45% of the vote - three times that of Obama's 15% and Edwards with just 7% (other polls have similar margins).

Hillary Clinton$1,137,472
Rudy Giuliani$886,556
Barack Obama$368,590
John McCain$128,594
Bill Richardson$124,625
Mitt Romney$114,250
John Edwards$104,715
Fred Thompson$77,320
Ron Paul$70,867
Joe Biden$66,615
Chris Dodd$52,284
Mike Hucakbee$7,450
Dennis Kucinich$5,449
Tom Tancredo$4,635
Tommy Thompson$4,600
Sam Brownback$4,158
Duncan Hunter$1,130

am I right that (0.00 / 0)
this would only include people who gave more than $250, since smaller donations are not listed individually.

These totals should include all contributions.

odd (0.00 / 0)
I wonder how they do that, since small (I should have said $200, not $250) donations are not disclosed.  Without the zip code, how would they attach a location?  I see much smaller numbers for all candidates at the NY Times website, which is for $200+ individuals only.

I'm doubting myself now...I don't know.

It's the reporting obligation. (4.00 / 1)
Contributions of $200 or more must be itemized and the campaign must make best efforts to collect and report the name, address, employer, and occupation of each donor.  But when total dollars are reported, the figure should include both these "reportable" donations and all the smaller donations that were received but not itemized.

Are you sure these data are accurate?? (0.00 / 0)
Dodd raises a mere $700 from NJ contributions?  A few thousand less than the wingnuts Tancredo and Brownback??  And no money AT ALL for Kucinich, who usually gets 7-10 votes in the Blue Jersey straw polls.  You're telling me not even one person gave Kucinich even a measly $25 this past quarter??

Apparently (0.00 / 0)
they are not willing to vote with their wallets.

my mistake (4.00 / 1)
I forgot to include Kucinich (just added him now, $5,449). You can check my numbers here.

[ Parent ]
another mistake. (4.00 / 1)
Sorry again, Dodd raised $52,284. The $700 was for the line below, New Mexico.

Very interesting (0.00 / 0)
Thank you Juan!
