New Jersey for Democracy, the statewide coalition group of Democracy for America members, is holding elections for its 2006 Executive Board. There are seven seats to be filled, and all members (non-members join here) of NJforDemocracy are invited to apply to serve.

Details on applications, deadlines, etc. are available on the NJforDemocracy Website and on the flip.

The more the merrier.

Jeff Gardner :: New Jersey for Democracy is electing new officers
Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, January 13, 2006. A comprehensive list of candidates will be circulated via statewide leaders by Wednesday, January 18, 2006, and voting will take place through midnight, February 4, 2006. Candidates must adhere to the application process described below:

A. APPLICATION CONTENT
1. Name
2. Municipality and County; what Meetup/Linkup are you connected with, if any?
3. How long have you been associated with New Jersey for Democracy (or DFA)?
4. What roles have you held within New Jersey for Democracy (or DFA)?
5. What should we know about your professional, educational and political background? (brief, relevant commentary, not your resume or CV)
6. Where do you see New Jersey for Democracy going and how can you help move it there? (Out of consideration for the need to disseminate these widely, and to ensure a level playing field for all applicants, please limit your answer to 200 words.)
Please note that applications that, in their entirety, exceed a 400-word limit, will be truncated at the 400-word mark, regardless how complete that application may be. (If you use Microsoft Word, try the Word Count toolbar!)

B. APPLICATION SUBMISSIONS
You must submit your application no later than midnight, January 13, 2006 to candidates@HunterdonForDemocracy.com. Make sure we received your application! If you do not receive a confirmation within 24 hours, send your message again, or contact the current Executive Board members listed at www.njfordemocracy.org/leadership.

C. CANDIDATE PROFILES
Candidate profiles will be distributed to DFA-Link Local Group Leaders, and will be available online at our website at http://www.njfordemocracy.org/2006candidates by January 18, 2006. (Note: this page is not available, yet.)

D. VOTING PROCESS
Voting for Executive Board members will be done at the Local Group level.

Each Local Group will cast votes for the candidates of their choice to elect the seven Executive Board members. A Local Group may follow whatever consultative process it decides on to identify its choices for Executive Board (i.e. only those present vote; email votes will be accepted in lieu of attendance; online polling will collect consensus, etc.).

One representative chosen by the Local Group will submit that group’s ranked list of seven votes to the Executive Board by email to: steeringcommittee@njfordemocracy.org no later than midnight, February 4, 2006.

E. ELIGIBILITY
Eligible Local Groups are those groups who were registered with DFA-Link (www.dfalink.com) by December 15, 2005, and who have a minimum of 10 members registered for their local DFA-Link group by no later than January 31, 2006.

F. VACANCIES
Should any member of the elected Executive Board find himself or herself unable to complete the one-year term, the remaining members will appoint a replacement within sixty (60) days. The Board will make the appointment by a simple majority vote.

G. TERM OF OFFICE
The new elected Executive Board will take office on February 15, 2006.
