Quote of the Day

by: Juan Melli

Mon Aug 20, 2007 at 10:09:35 PM EDT

The target of President Bush's latest misguided war: New Jersey's uninsured children. Upset that Congress rebuffed his efforts to slash SCHIP funding, he set out to change the rules to make it much more difficult for states like New Jersey to cover its uninsured children.

New Jersey's deputy commissioner of human services, Ann Clemency Kohler, was outraged:

"We are horrified at the new federal policy. It will cause havoc with our program and could jeopardize coverage for thousands of children."
Mike Ferguson and Frank LoBiondo joined New Jersey's Democrats in the House in voting for SCHIP. Now their party's leader is declaring war on New Jersey's kids. Will they remain silent or speak out against this atrocity?

Start the music (4.00 / 1)
LoBiondo will dance as he always does.

He tries to sit on the fence so that he draws no attention from either the right wing of his party or possible Democratic opposition.

His act is getting old.

How long does it take to make a decision on Iraq?

How long does it take to stand on principle and speak up for the children in his District?

So obvious (0.00 / 0)
that Bush is helping his friends in the insurance industry.  That he would endanger so many children by making sure they were without health insurance for a full year before being allowed in the program on the off chance that some parents will take them off their personal policies and put them in the program.

Punishing so many children so he can  save his cronies money.  How disgusting.

Having the government insure all children will make insurance so much more affordable for familes that MORE parents will probably buy insurance for themselves.

Gee, I wonder how the Social Darwinist Against Evolution - Scott Garrett feels about this?

One Vote. Yours. It really does matter.
