Last minute appeal for a critical Clean Elections Deadline in the 24th

by: Tom Wyka

( - promoted by Rosi Efthim)

Promoted from diaries: Two days left, people, and 2 of the 3 Democratic candidates in the Clean Elections District LD-24 still need your $10 bucks, if you live there, to qualify as ballot-listed Clean Elections candidates. Do it. If only to make Alison McHose squirm like a guinea pig at the injustice of the even playing field. - Rosi Efthim

First the Good News!

Ed Selby, Candidate for the District 24 Senate Seat has passed the 400 mark to qualify for the first tier of the Clean Elections Grant  ($46,000 matching funds).

Ed will also have a special designation as a clean elections candidate on the sample ballot along with a statement of up to 250 words.

More Good News (sort of) ...

All GOP candidates have also qualified - setting up the 24th District with an automatic spending cap of no more than $100K per candidate, should anyone qualify for the top tier with 800 donations (despite some hypocritical protestations - in the form of a donation plea by our dear Mrs. McHose.)

Now the bad news ....

Tom Wyka :: Last minute appeal for a critical Clean Elections Deadline in the 24th
Democratic Assembly Candidates Toni Zimmer and Pat Walsh have not yet passed the 400 mark with only 2 days left to go for the important ballot deadline of August 15th!  As of this writing they may only need as few as 12 to 20 donations for the ballot designation.

If you know of anyone who is registered to vote in the 24th ... (i.e.  Hunterdon County: Califon, Tewksbury  ...  Morris: Chester Boro, Chester Twp, Mt. Olive, Netcong Boro, Washington ... &  all of Sussex County)  Please call them and ask them to donate by Wednesday!  (Pat and Toni preferred at this moment if $10 or $20 is all you can spare, but also keep in mind that now that Ed has qualified - each $10 donation he receives is actually worth over $125 with the matching grant.)

Online processing available at the following links ...

Toni Zimmer for Assembly

Pat Walsh for Assembly

Ed Selby for Senate

Please help make this a success.  It's time to buy back your Democracy!

Way to go (0.00 / 0)
Nice to see Ed Selby made it - here's hoping the whole slate gets there. Clean elections are the future.

Guinea Pigs (0.00 / 0)
Right. This is such a good idea. Activists of both parties should be supporting this program, but apparently the whole idea gives Alison McHose the willies.

It's worth reading through her scare-tactic letter to supporters, to catch the guinea pig reference, and to remind you of why McHose so deserves to be replaced.

It's not a particularly snappy signature, but here's what I think we need in the next NJ Democratic State Chair.

Now is the time (4.00 / 1)
Put your money where your heart is - in clean elections campaigns.  Come on, folks.  This is the trial version, but it will be in more places if we get this to work now.  There is a second deadline of September 30 also, so even if you don't think you can make this first deadline and you live in a Clean Elections district - meeting the second deadline gets your candidates even more $$$.  So, please get your $10 donations in and make sure you make out separate checks and forms for EACH candidate on the ticket.

One Vote.  Yours.  It really does matter.

They have all qualified now-Yes? (0.00 / 0)
I think they all made the deadline:
Toni, Pat and Ed.
